ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    D4 Light Blinking

Before i get flamed for this let me say i read the writeup on this and couldnt find the symptoms im having. so, i just recently bought a 92 EX with the F22A6 and the d4 light blinks. It will drive fine in first and reverse, but once it shifts out of first, its like the car shifts to fourth. is this the TCU? or something more serious?

Yeah it could be the TCU. And yeah it could be something more serious. U can't tell really without diagnosing it a bit more. I believe u can pull the code, tho I'm not sure how u do that with the tranny. I think its just like the ECU, there might be a plug of some sort u can jump and pull a code from. I'm sure somebody will chime in here with a better idea of how to do that...

You pull the code the same way as you pull the CEL code. The process is in the stickies in every "technical" section of this site. The flashing D4 is indicating an error code... which means the TCU is doing what it should be doing.

Why does everyone always want to replace their TCU when this happens?

The same reason everybody wants to replace the main relay when their car doesn't start. IDK, I think its just wishful thinking for the most part. The TCU is easy and cheap to find and replace.

I had this happen a couple weeks ago, check the code and look it up check on the stickies like deev said . Mine was the transmission speed sensor. the wires were cut through somehow. good luck.

Yeah, but if the TCU is flashing an error code, it's doing what it's supposed to do. Replacing it will only result in the new TCU flashing the same code, unless IT is broken and not reading the error.

Replacing a TCU for giving you an error code would be like killing the pizza delivery guy because the person that made the pizza always gets it wrong. The next delivery guy won't bring you the right pizza if the same person is making it. Don't kill the messenger. Go for the actual source of the problem.
