My brakes - 2 Me -0

Alright so 7 hours later my car now only has painted calipers (black) and newer brake fluid :angry: :angry: .

My intention today was to remove my old rotors/pads and replace them with brembo blanks and axxis pads.

First things first:

I loosened the bottom caliper bolt and swung the caliper top plate up to remove the pads. Then removed the caliper all together (those things were a BITCH to get off).

Well in between rainstorms :idiots: I finally got it down to tackle the hub bolts. Now in my chiltons it says I need to remove the 4 bolts behind the hub connecting the hub to the steering knuckle.

Do these HAVE to come off? in order to get these 4 bolts off:

I tried my impact gun and no dice. I then hosed it down with some easy-off...no dice. I then decided to give up for the day and put everything back on and possibly try in the morning or take it to my local firestons/midas etc to have them put the rotors on.

good thing i dont have to worry about this anymore since i did my rotor over hub swap...you could take the whole knuckle off and take it to a machine shop and have them press them out...i think you might need to remove your axle nut..not sure though

Them 4 bolts behind knuckle that fasten the hub assembly on are 12-pt heads...I think 14 mm. Anyways, you should be able to get them off with impact gun....I'd soak them in rust penetrant for a bit while doing other things....then come back and hit them with the lowest setting a few times to jar things loose, then go with a higher torque setting....going with higher torque initially might break/shear crap. Anyways, after you get them off (spindle or driveaxle nut must be off and also the 3 ball joints & brake assembly) take out knuckle assembly. Then, go to machine shop or use a arbor press/hydraulic press to put the hub/rotor/wheel bearing assembly out of the knuckle bore. Then you can use impact gun for them 4 bolts that connect the rotor to the hub and replace with new rotor. When you put the hub/wheel bearing/rotor assembly back into the knuckle...line it up so it goes in level, then hand thread the four 12-pt headed bolts, then fasten them down evenly and torque to what i believe is 33 lb-ft. this will draw this assembly into the knuckle bore evenly and you'll be all set. reinstall everything and put in a new spindle/driveaxle nut and hit it good with impact gun (anti-seize the CV shaft spline area)....then put car on ground and torque this nut to I think 181 lb-ft....then stake the nut with chisel & hammer or whatever...I think ya might need to jack up the front again and remove wheels to stake the nut, then put them back on cuz u may not have the angle to stake the nut with wheels on....i think...i did this a while back...I'm pretty close on everything I bet though

always torque the nuts with the wheels on and the car on the ground and i believe it is 181 ft.lbs.

he's talking about the spindle nuts or driveaxle nuts by the way...if you can buy new ones...or if you have to or want to...use the old, but stake them in a different place (if u removed them & they still are in decent shape).
