Meet #4 : MIR November 7TH

k guys.. time to get in one last 2004 mid-atlantic meet before it gets too cold and nasty outside.

Place: Budds Creek, Maryland (Maryland International Raceway). November 7th is the last day of racing before they close down the track for the winter season. This is on a Sunday, and it's an event called "World Cup Finals (Import vs. Domestic)". As the title states, the races are mostly involving imports and domestics of varying classes. However, they also let imports race each other from time to time as well. I figured we could meet up at my old community college parking lot (one of them) and take some pictures/video before heading up to the track. Then after that we could all roll up to the track in one big cb7 pack. more info on this event specifically is here (http://www.mirdrag.com/worldcup/index.html).

On the other hand if we have it in southern maryland maybe i can see your hot sister again (dont ban me i was joking). dave - i've changed the meet to southern maryland at the track for sure. i figured that this would be more fun and we could still get some good video shots and pictures before heading up to the track (since i wanted to meet up before going there - see revised first post).

..well, thats good news. none of the jersey tracks let you run unless you have door handles; and the only track in Long Island, which did, recently closed. this is one meet i'm looking foward too.

cool, just remember guys that i'm having a pre-meet at the community college. this is the same COLLEGE (csm) that we met up at during meet #3, BUT a different CAMPUS. this campus also has some nice parking lots for picture-taking, and is only about 20 minutes away from the track. so it'd be cool for everyone to make that too... and then it'll be easier for us to remain in a group. it might be hard finding everyone if we just meet up at the track. so check out the first post for directions to the campus, if you want to come.

that's a good idea. the best place I personally know is fedex field. that is if they aren't having some sort of sporting event there. IIRC FedEx Field is about 10 or so minutes away from the beltway. however that place is HUGE so it would be a good idea if we got each others numbers beforehand so we can all find each other a bit faster.

I'm coming though. MD meets are the best, and I can't miss out on running with other CB7s! The last time I only had dj justice running with me, and we were in different brackets.

Will this be a structured race setup, or will it be a free for all? I'm not all that fond of bracket racing (since I really don't know what I run) but I'll do anything, I guess. They don't require helmets there, do they? I hated that about Honda Day...

well you are more then likely going to get about ummmm atleast 2-3. But on the good side about 5-6. But this sounds like it will be crazy. Can't wait. i drove 6 hours to a meet, hung out for a few hours, and drove 6 hours back home the next morning. it was worth it, meets are great. theres nothing like meeting a bunch of ppl who love the same car as you, ppl you talk to online all the time but havent met yet.

and if ur gonna go to any one, go to this one.

last year at this event i got in just one... but i had plenty of time to run again - just didn't.

We're going to HOPEFULLY have 6 or 7 people minimum rolling down from NY and North Jersey. Once you guys get to South Jersey, you'll be meeting up with me and another 6 or so people... or more. A 5 hour drive with so many people isn't a pain, it's fun! By the time the drive gets old, we'll be there.

It'll be an early morning drive, and we'll be heading home around 6. So plan on the day lasting from like 8am to 11pm (drive time included). It will be well worth it, I swear! I've driven 5+ hours for a regular meet. This one is actually at a track, with racing, car shows, food... It'll be a day well spent!

mike, you nj/ny guys might need more than 3 hours to make it to the 11 AM pre-meet that we're having. and even once we finally make it to the track, eliminations start around 3 PM.

Don't forget that Chris and I got lost in the slums of DC for like anb hour and a half last time! It's really only about a 3 hour ride.

We'll have to see what we can do. I have to get an idea of who's going before I can really set a leaving time. Leaving my area at 6 would mean the NY guys would have to leave their houses at like 4:30. That's WAY too early! If we leave here at 8, and everyone has directions (travel in tight groups of 4, so we don't have to drive slow to keep the train together) we should be able to make it in 3 hours easily. It's fairly close to where we met before, right? I remember you saying the track was right down the street from the Checkers we were at...

Eh, stock height isn't bad when it comes to wheel hop. Cheap coilovers would make that more of an issue.

I ran at stock height, with a bad clutch, bald tires, and terrible shifting... Managed a meager 15.577. Still not terrible though, considering my car was a 17 second car! I hope to dip into the 14s this time around. I hope my crappy stock clutch allows it!

holy crap. umm its not gonna be a 3 hour drive anymore, its going to be a 7 and a half hour drive. im going to be in south carolina the saturday before... gonna need to take a buttload of caffeine pills and leave very early sunday morning to get to the meet on time.

MIR does NOT allow shaved door handles to run on the track, i've been there when someone tried....and theres only been a few runs by ppl who had their door handles shaved...and as Steve and dunkin nuts might know....RICH with that black civic hatch, was the last person to run at MIR with shaved door handles and he had to talk to a LOT of ppl to get that one and only run, and that was more then a year ago and the track officials still made a huge deal about it....so bottom line is NO you cant race with shaved door handles...

it's only for SUNDAY... but it would be a good idea to stay near the area saturday night. especially if you're traveling from a farther place - like in your case. it would probably make sunday a less hectic day, and more enjoyable in general (with a good nights' rest). i'm not sure if we could get discounts on a hotel or anything... i know dj justice used to have a hook up, but i'm not sure anymore :shrug:

I'll add you to the list man. It's cool to see an H23. You're right, they are pretty rare. I guess most people, at least until recently, feel that a swap worth doing is a swap that gives the most power... I'm just now realizing the potential of the F23 and F22B DOHC myself! You can turbo one of those so much more easily. A turbo H23 can make more power than a turbo H22 with the same amount of money.

Well come this winter when i pick up my TL, i'm going to put my accord away and its getting the full "boost" treatment...i just have to build the bottom end and tranny to hold the power since thats the only parts left still stock...I want to run mine down there since i've yet to hear anyone break into the 14's all motor with an H23 but it just depends on if i can get my bugs worked out...I am gonna see if i can possibly find any other CB7's around here to take but just like H23's, they're rare to find a good modified CB7 in Delaware...at least around Dover where i'm at.

ok guys. tryed my car today. it starts on second gear then on 4th. lol i tryed to pull my car up. then i heard this little noise. hahahah. tryed to get the code but no code comming out. wtf. drove my car and everything seems ok. after driving for a while in philly streets the code comes on. but this time i don't have a second gear. wtf is that. so i shut my car down and then start it again. no code and the car seems fine. this is the same exact problem that i had with my first tranny.
i am leaning towords a bad shiffter cable which fuckes up the tranny with the passing of the time. either that or my tcm acts up and screws up the gears on the tranny.
eithe way. i will work on my car a little more. but if the tranny don't shit on me i will try to make the meeting.
i don't want to miss one of the biggest meets ever on cb7. so i am keeping my hopes up.

I would lean more towards the TCM...a physical problem with the shifter cable would constantly have that problem, but when you shut down the car and re-start it, it will wipe the codes out temporarily of the TCM and ECU.

Hey you guys think you have it bad, just went out to ye ol cb7 to take a few pics of the shitty projector beam/hid kit and compare to the retrofit projectors i am doing. and I notice my floor mats are on the seats and the glove box open. don't remember leaving the floor mats being on the seat and i am sure I closed my glove box when i put my avcr away. then I look at towards the dash as I go to turn the ignition on, and there is the reason to my thoughts. My car got broken into. I must have forgotten to turn on the fn alarm.:angry: Luckily the stupid SOBs only took a fried alpine head unit, that was a loaner from a friend while my kenwood is out getting fixed and they stole the eq. But this is how dumb these FUCK FACES are. They forgot the detachable faceplates from the radio and the eq. What fucking idiots.:idiots: I think my dog must have scared them off cause they didn't take anything else. Damn, and I wanted to play a bit with my AR15 and his lil 40 friends.:angry:
