Honda Accord EXI 1990

1. My Honda Acord vibrates when I start up and and go into reverse gear? Why
2. I have a small engine oil leak. My mechanic says it is from the crank shaft seal. Please advise/

1. Check your motor mounts. Most likely front and/or rear need to be replaced.

2. Replace your crankshaft seal. :)

The camshaft seal is a common and potentially very bad issue for your motor.

There is a list of things that should be done when you do it:

1. Camshaft seal
2. Balance shaft seal
3. Front crankshaft seal
4. Timing belt
5. Balance belt
6. Water pump
7. Oil drive gear seal
8. Accesory belts

Do it yourself and you'll pay US$150 off eBay for parts, a few guys sell the whole kit. Not a terrible job to do. I don't know what the mechanic will charge, but it will be more labor than parts.

IMPORTANT!! Get the camshaft seal retainer clip!! Honda came out with this little clip a few years later when they found out the camshaft seal likes to walk out of it's seat. Get it! Only costs US$3.50.

I'm assuming you have the F22 motor. Hope this helps.
