Installing a new shift boot...

Can anyone tell me how to install a new shift boot?!?! i hate the OEM one

yea but you have to cut the shift boot a little. it doesnt fit without doing so. i have done two of them and both of them wouldnt fit without cutting. i tried for atleast 2 hours on the first one. what i did was cut a hole in the channel where the pull string goes through and pulled the string out. it has more stretch to it that way. hope this helps. mabey yours wont require it.

Hmmm.. I made my own out of Black Marine Vinyl and some nice burgundy thread that matches the interior color. I'll post a pic of it sometime...
