1993 Accord Coupe Front Speaker Upgrade

I have a 1993 Accord EX Coupe. I currently have Pioneer 4" speakers in the front doors. It is mounted in a special OEM mount. I know that the 4 doors have 6.5" speakers in the front.

Has anyone removed that special mount and replaced a 6.5" (or any other size that will fit) speaker in its place? Does it hit the window when you roll it down? Are there any problems resulting in the change of the speaker?

Any help is appreciated.

Please note...the 1993 EX coupe has the 4" speakers in the front and 6X9's in the rear. I've had people tell me that im wrong and that the fronts are 6.5".

My wifes 91 ex sedan, has 4in in the front... on my 91 lx sedan, 6.5 front 6.5 rear...

i put 6.5 components on the front, and they dont hit the window, because i jimmy rigged them to the stock speaker basket :D...

you just have to get something to raise them out about an 1in... and you will be fine.. cut some plywood out or something..

i fit some 6.5 stocks casue the magnet wasnt that big. the distance between the door and the window is about 2 3/4 i think...maybe less...

u can use speaker spacers...i took out my housings....yet im concerned about water hitting the speakers.

u can buy the 6.5 stock housings for the accord if u wish....or create a custom thing....
