remvoing stickers on trunk/body from dealership

at least that's what i think it is. My Grandma bought an 05 civic the other day and she wants to get rid of the white lettering and such on the trunk door that states which car lot the vehicle came from. I think it's a small body vinyl of sorts. Plus it bugs me w/ the car being red and then seeing this blatant patch of white. Any Ideas on how to remove this? :shrug: :confused: Thanks in advanced to any and everyone who posts a helpful reply. ;)

Just very very lightly hit it with a hair dryer and it should peel off. If not using some goo gone will work. Some people say to use a razor, I don't recommend it.

A hair dryer? are you serious? I've never even thought of that. So this is supposed to dry it out or something and it'll just peel off? The paint is BRAND new so I want to do this right. No room for errors here ya know? :eyebrow:

yea goo gone is good stuff, i have to take off some sticky stuff from an emblem and im gunna pick some of it up


funny story bout that stuff ill make it short

my sister got sap in her hair and we couldnt get it out, we tried for like 3 days with everything, then i got goo gone and dumped it on her, got the sap right out

i dont know exactly where they sell it, but there is a thing that you put on the end of a drill where its like a big rubber pencil eraser, and its made for removing decal pinstripes... i would assume it would work on the dealer tag.

for mine, it was a metallic full sticker, thats been rotting in the sun for 12 years, and absolutely was NOT going to come off... so i sanded it off. tho i definately dont recommend that for a brand new car, itll leave a patch. lol...

hair dryer + a plastic razor....its like a spatchela but w/ a sharper edge, thin like a razor so it'll get btw the vinyl but won't ruin the clear coat....then you can use windex or glass cleaner on the glue....goo gone is good too but its not something i'd pay for just for removing a sticker... :wavey:

yeah, 3M makes a pinstripe erasor. You can prolly get it at auto supply stores, possibly even Napa. Not totally sure of the part number.. heres a link

might be overkill for this, but definately worth while for anyone needing to get rid of a pinstripe. This is what the shops use.

my dads yukon had that and it just came off with my fingers....god im so pissed i have a metal plate riveted in the back of the trunk that says "car lot" what kind of crooked ass dealer rivets shit ahh

Thanks for all the help guys, but in the end I went the longer but IMO safer route. I stood there w/ the trunk open for like 15 mins and used my nails to peel off the white crap. Afterwards i went over the area with Goof Off 2. It's water soluble, so after using it on the paint to rid myself of the sticker smudges, I used a wash rag to clean the area some more. After all was said and done, you couldn't even tell the tag had been there. Thanks again for all the ideas!
