well... first of all - he doesn't have a profile to view.

i would probably stick the gauge(s) in a custom fitted area. glove box... on the dash somewhere... i dunno.

maybe its time to do a custom mod... like a guage next to your clock.. or maybe cut a hole and fit it in.

On the note of custom mods: I havae two gauges (oil pres. & oil temp) of the 2" (or is 2 1/16" the standard?) Autometer variety mounted on the cupholder. I don't carry drinks, so it doesn't matter. You can't just drill into it and mount them beause the backs interfere with the shifter cables, but they do (the gauges) fit very perfectly snug into 2" PVC, which I painted black and used black silicone to adhere to the holder. It looks quite nice, not too much out of place, was very cheap to make and is out of the line of sight. If you're mucho concerned about one aspect (as I am about oil pressure) you can rig a warning light to go off at a specified low pressure (summit racing also sells a low pressure kill switch).
I'll write up a DIY if people are interested.

I dont have anything special as far as engine, and gauges, but when I reupholster my dash to match the interior, I am going to put an extra little gauge pod to the left of the consol area. Im not sure of if i should just do one like the WRX, just a popup thing, or mold it into the existing one, but i think that would be a great place for a few of them.

what do you currently have? first I would ditch the monster tach, you have stock and a vafc. if necessary you could keep the shift light. Ive been thinking about that just putting a shift light somewhere, but definetly no need for that huge thing. also 1 of the others looks like a/f? which is pointless imo if it is. so thats 2 spots there...

I got a shift light out of a used car purchase last spring. When I got rid of the car, or rather, it got rid of me, I kept the light. Since nobody really wanted to buy it I decided to put it on. It, as are the makeshift gauge pods, is held on with black silicone - which you can get any hardware store. I haven't cleaned up the globs of it, nor will I anytime soon, as you can see below, but it makes for a nice, easy, and very reversable installation.

that looks very bootlegged... if your going for a clean look mount it flush with the console... dont just tack it on..

Yeah, I'll be the first to admit that it does look haphazard. I tried flush mounting the gauges with the bottom of the drink holder there but they interfered with the shifter cables - so, with a 2 1/16" hole already there, I had to do something. I may fix something up later, but I doubt it. It's an autocross project, so my goal isn't to be pretty.

H22Sparkle, I would get rid of the monster tach. No offense but it is a little overkill. If you like the Idea of a shift light then just get a shift light. Anyway, once the tach is gone the you can put a gauge in it's place. I would personally put one right above the vent on the left side. Kind of where your tach is now. There is a dished out spot on the dash. It is a great opportunity to make a custom gauge housing. Would look super sweet.:D

I would get the guage pod that allows yoy to mount the guage on the steering colum.

what andrew did u could easily bent the pvc piping so that the gauges ACTUALLY face the driver and u dont have to like look over them u can just glance down..
with any reliably hot heat source (heat gun) u can bend it to you liking

I only like the tach because it turns colors at different rpm's thats why nothing big.
