I have an Vortech 10:1 FMU and need to lower it down to 5:1.
The lower ratio disk cost to much, and I wonder if I can ghetto rig lower the ratio by using a cheap manual boost controller to reduce the boost going to the FMU.

so if my disk ratio is 10:1 and I run at 10psi boost, normally the FMU would raisethe fuel pressure to 100psi, If I use a manual boost controller and lower the boost level going into the FMU say by 50%, then at 10psi boost the FMU should only see 5psi and raise fuel level to 50psi. Does anyone know would this work?? I still running a bit to rich on the boost and need fuel pressure to be less then 90psi when boosted.

Turbo and Boosting is very adictives, you can never had enough, you keep wanting to boost higher, more boost, just couple more psi of boost:D

with each psi you gain anywhere from 7-12HP, think 3psi that another 21-36HP increase, just by upping the boost:boink: . The tempataion to up the boost is too much for a car loving person to contain , and that how blow engine happen:cry: But with any add-on part what has only 3-4HP on an N/A car, would be multiply on turbo car say 7-10HP.

Now the bitching side, Dame it use up too much Fuel, I have to gas it every 3 day now compare to 6 day on non-turbo. Tuning is a bitch PITA, got to get so many ratio, sensor reading correctly. lower this pressure, to high on that reading, need to flat out this curve maping, need to this and need to that... People think your a physicis major, when you taking fuel management and timing control, Fuel and ignition mapping.......
They look at me and like  I stop and listen to my self talking and I was like dame:shocked: When do I become a boost freak:rolleyes: I remeber my starting day into car moding, and thought that air intake system was a turbo, and Vtec was a super engine that real racer would be able to get......

Well you could use a manual boost controller "pressure regulator" to cut the amount of boost the FMU sees in half. Don't know how effective it would be though. But if you want to give it a try, what the hell.

Get yourself a Cambell Housefield pressure regulator from The Home Depot. It looks just like the "Manual boost controller" Tubronetics distributes only this thing cost $24.99 as opposed to $69+ and is the exact same thing.

Or if you have a Harbor Frieght Tools or Northern Tools something that carries discount made in china tools they normall have cheap ones for like $4.99 and AMflo ones for like $14.99. Any of those will work. You just need a pressure regulator like they use on air compressors.

:D I'm a physics major. :D I feel so special...
