yesterday lowoctane (nate) and i changed out my pads on my front. on the driver side we couldn't get the pads out since there was overspray and shit from both paint jobs holding them in, so we just took the whole calipar off the car and popped them out.
doing that, we had to disconnect the brake line which is obvious.. and we got it all back together.. but after talking to cpmike on the phone i realized my bleeder valve is busted off.
so today i'm going to the junk yard to get a calipar to swap on to the car.
but my question is.. since the passenger side we didn't have to disconenct the brakes.. i don't need to bleed that side do i?
there is a lot of air in the driver front side since we took off the line and can't bleed it.. i don't need to bleed the passenger since i didn't remove the brake line do i?
thanks
ps.. i also gashed my arm open on a rusty piece of metal taking off my capliar. now i get to get a tetinus shot and some other shot on monday, how exciting? :thumbsdwn

u should always bleed all for sides not just one. to the rear left, front left, rear right, front right in that order. and bleeder screws are replcable if u can get the old one out.

the bleeder valve screw is completely busted and i have to take the calipar off anyways.. plus the calipar at the junk yard is only $8. :)
i don't really need to bleed the rear do i? i didn't even touch them.

well im just telling u the right way to do it. u can get away with just doing the front. just make sure theres no air in the system.

the dust shield of the rotor. it was rusty and my arm is still kinda numb from it. i gotta go to the doctor monday to get a tetnuis shot and something to fix the tingling in my arm.
i picked up a calipar today from the junk yard and got it on the car, bled both sides.. although the passenger didn't need it. :)

hello guys, i dont mean to jack,
but i just did all 4 today. i am just curious if i did it correct. pedal seems to be about the same, no sink in or anything like that. when i did the far right rear drum, there was bigger bubbles than the average small ones i seen in the fluid itself.
anyhow what tips or suggestions can you guys give to assure me that i did it alright. me and my dad did it, we pumped and made sure when the fluid flowed clean and new i tightened it.
thanks.

do you bleed with the car on or off? does it matter. i did mine plenty of times over with the car off and it seems to still have air...=(

did mines off. but here's what i did.
back rear right..after pumping and all that. i would turn the car on, and pump the pedal just to see.. then turn it off to top off or whatever then do the other wheels.
does ur pedal sink in? mines felt just about the same if not firmer, because i saw BIG bubbles in the tube. not just small kind from shaked up brakefluid. but it felt alright so i m guessing i did mines correct.

haha.. what do u mean then? could it be cuz of the slots not warming up enough? or cuz somethign else has gone bad??
seriously. i am just sticking w/ OEM rotars and axiss pads tops. *i have yet to do them, maybe summer time or when i hear more screech from the pads LOL :P..

Is the rear left, left when you are looking at it or is it your left when you are sitting in the car.

When you're facing the car. In this order it's less confusing.
Passenger rear, driver rear, passenger front, driver front.

Alright i'm a newbie to this particular board but heres some advice on bleeding the brakes just to help clean this post up......
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DEATHS OR INJURYS WITH BLEEDING THE BRAKES...IF YOUR WILLING TO DO IT YOURSELF BRING IT TO A SHOP AND HAVE THEM DO IT.....
when u bleed them shut your car off...because u want to build pressure in the lines to take out any air..when the car is on it releases some pressure so u dont blow lines..the bleeding should be done from rear-front....start the fathest away from the driver's side...Bleed the passenger rear....for those who dont know how too( press the brake untill it becomes firm) then with a socket wrench unscrew the bleeder just for a second no longer and tighten it back up....then move to your driver's front and do the same thing with the pedal...it helps to have about 2 things of brake fluid handy since you will lose enough...ALWAYS KEEP IT FULL.....then once your done with the driver side front do the driver side rear and so on...each side u need to press the brake in and allow it to build pressure...once its all done drive it down the road and ease onto the brakes here and there...hope this helps
