I was thinking about getting either 18's or 19's, but that will be a while, paint first...right now im leaning towards some chrome 18's but not really sure yet--Jay

You've got one crazy car alright. I am not a big fan of body kits but do your own thing. I like the shaved door handles in the back but I think the fronts should be shaved as well. You've also got some mad camber issues. Let me guess... the inside of you tires are bald. Camber is good if you are going to be racing but on the street it is kinda a waste of tires. I think your car would definitely look great with a paint job. What color are you thinking? Welcome to the site. I think you will like it here.:D

good to see you made it to the site. welcome. Props on the car

car is lookin hott man, good call on the front kit ;) street fyghter ownz. dont get chromes man, chromes suck, just like all these stupid fuckers around here with their stupid ass SUV's and their "bling-bling homie, yo, mic check,1,2....." your rims look great.
loooks good man, you gotta tell me how you did your door handles

12-05-2003, 11:52 AM
crazy ride man, im personally not into kit's but your car makes it look aight... i was considering getting air ride for my car instead of coilovers but i dunno wut im gonna do yet because im waiting til winter is over to even consider a drop..

akkordlayinkit
12-05-2003, 01:20 PM
Yea the camber is horrible, especially on the back. I didnt shave the front handles because i need those, i use them alot, and i didnt want to worry about dead batterys, actuators going bad, blah blah blah...but i did remove the keyhold from the pass side door (rear door handle). Anyone thinking of putting air on their daily driver DONT! Im am going back to coils when i get the time to change everything out. Yes air is sooo sweet to have, but its really not worth all the troulbe if you drive it alot, especially now that its getting cold and the valves freeze..

keep up the good work! how many times since i last talked to you have you ripped the back off? ;)

the tail lights are different but it has that certain touch thats like WHOA!! LOL nah its nice

the rear setup is the same thing i use to want to do like shave the trunk like how amber had it and put that rear the combat but the combat i didnt like how it went with the car dont get me wrong its nice but i just had a change of mind hopefully i will start my own bodywork on my car cuz my coworkers asked me wut i want for x-mas and i was like oh shit buy me primer bondo and fiberglass how easy of presents are those u know

anyways nice touch i love primered cars its like sleeper of showcars

bondo... lol

i wish bondo were a living thing so i could kill it.

excalibur02
12-09-2003, 12:22 AM
NO!!! Dont kill it why!!

it helps us all with rust or show or just body work, it needs us we need it, its our tool

akkordlayinkit
12-09-2003, 02:46 AM
Theres nothing wrong with bondo if you apply it right (thin! sand!) and sometimes its all that can be used...I got some bondo on my car thats held stronger than my welds on the door handles, even with all the vibrations...Jay

rebels
12-09-2003, 12:44 PM
I would never put bondo on my car. Everything on my car is welded, except of the molding of the body kit which is duraglassed with fiberglass resin laid over top of it.

It's just me and my people, but we hate bondo.

rebels
12-09-2003, 12:46 PM
...and thats cheap to put bondo over rust. In order to fix rust properly, you need to cut the rear panel out and weld new metal in. Bondo just hides it while it's speading behind teh bumper and making it even worse.

excalibur02
12-09-2003, 12:56 PM
veri veri tru yes it hides it if u dont cut it or sand down the rust.

however my rust job was cut and then welded on a new scrap metal then bondo over it to have a the factory shape look

http://images.cardomain.com/member_images/10/web/334000-334999/334074_26_full.jpg

then after it was fixed

http://images.cardomain.com/member_images/10/web/334000-334999/334074_27_full.jpg

it is beautiful job no bubbling it was done in april so its 8 months ago and nothing still like new

it costed me $250 for both sides

it was done professionally but as a side job.

mauricio

oh yea u can see more pics in my page on cardomain link is on the bottom

akkordlayinkit
12-09-2003, 02:09 PM
Exactly, bondo is just spread over rust, its just gonna keep rusting. Even if you do weld everything, most of the time your gonna put some kind of filler over it to hide the creases, holes, etc., although it can be done just be stretching and working the metal it would take soo many hours to get it smooth, and sometimes its not possible because you cant get to the backside of the metal to use the dolly, thats why almost all bodyshops use either a plastic filler (like bondo) or some other type of filler (such as epoxys). And on the fiberglassed parts you will either have to use resin(which is easier to crack than bondo and is harder to sand, longer to dry...) or a filler to fill all the tiny pores in the fiberglass. Also I work at a bodyshop in the summers when Im out of school, so thats why I have alot of experience with it.
Jay

akkordlayinkit
12-09-2003, 02:19 PM
Also there are many products out there that you can use instead of bondo, like some of 3m's epoxys (I cant remember the name) that will flex when they become dry, so therefor it WILL NOT crack, I put some on my friends cb7 about 3 1/2 years ago on his side skirts, trunk lines, and after having the car lay on the skirts all it did was bow the urethane skirts outward towards the wheels, but then after it was off the ground it went back into the original shape and no cracks, and even after his car was totalled about 4 months ago, it still didnt crack one of the sides, the other got ripped into 2 peices. But these epoxys are expensive though...
Jay

j

akkordlayinkit
12-09-2003, 05:23 PM
Its a 2 part epoxy made by 3M, I think its called epoxy weld??? or sumthing like that, there is also other products similar to it, just make sure you get the kind that is made for either metal plastic glass or whatever you'll be using it on.

akkordlayinkit
12-12-2003, 07:27 PM
You sure can, they best thing to use is fiberglass mate on the backsides of both the broken peice and the bumber, also you can put some metal stripes between the mat and the bumper to reinforce it. Then you can use the kittyhair on the outside of the bumber to smooth it out.

Last weekend I took off the air for the winter. Now im riding around on stock accord springs w/ KYB AGX struts in the front, and stock civic springs w/ KYB AGX struts in the rear, all new strut mounts, bushings, washers, nuts, etc. and but no bumpstops (I didnt want to pay 11.76 ea. for them). Also I did my first engine mod- AEM Cold Air Intake, which in my opinion isn't worth the $164 I paid. But anyways heres some pics:

The ride quality isnt that great with the cylinders...the main problem I had in the winter time was that my right rear cylinder wall was scored, so all the seals would leak, and then it would allow water to enter the system...then when the weathers cold, the water would freeze and all the valves would become stuck. But I just recently replaced the 3-4 yr old rear cylinders with newer Parker cylinders, that by the way offer a much smoother ride, and so far havent had anymore problems.

So if you bought everything new, and from a good company, you shouldnt have any problems even in the winter time...as for bags, the air struts(bags made onto our strut) are suppost to ride quite a bit better than cylinders, but from what I've heard and seen they dont have the speed or adjustablity that the cylinders have.

No its still not fully painted as of right now...but its coming along.

SoySauceCb7:
Just FYI, its been over 2+ yrs, and thats just how long its been primed...I have more important proirities in my life than this car, so after eveything else is good and I have spare time I'll try to work on it. Also I have more time consuming projects done to my car than you, not to mention I do it all myself and this is my only car...so that could be another big reason why its taking so long.

But it is getting there, slowly, but surely.

you have more time consuming projects done to your car than me RIGHT, well you go with rice headlights and enjoy your life o and i do all my work myself as well. Im a full time student taking over 15 credits, manage a car audio business and still have time to work MYSELF on my car. Dont you ever say anythign comparing your car to mine.

damn.. jealous? chill out.. this is a community where people help eachother and not get in fights. i'm not going to say i havent or i would be a hypocrite.. but maybe sometime you'll realize how much time and how many long hours are in getting a body straight when you shave and paint. you cant just go outside and sand and have a nice car.

where is the love? :bouncy:

Rebels knows what Im talking about ;)

Update:
Gave it a wash today and realized my trunk is starting to crack...so that means Im gonna have to knock all the fiberglass and filler out and weld it this time, not to metion I still have to redo my door handles, and the sides and rear that Ive dragged the piss out of...

Guess paint will be delayed a little more

My old trunk lid is for sale, Zach has it now and only wants like $90 + shipping. It's all welded and sealed on the inside with foam. You would have to recover the lines because some of it is grinded down again from when he was going to redo his car, but it might be easier to just buy the lid from him since it was welded and done good.

You know what it's like to have to fix body work, sucks doesn't it? We had to fix all my door handles this time.. the guy welded the metal from the inside the first time so we just welded over top of the old metal and they are flush now. The trunk lid is the only part that he actually spent time on.. the rest of the car was shitty.. but you know what you're doing so I'm sure it'll turn out good!

501accord: Close, its a Malibu...

Exhaust was all stock with a welded on OBX muffler...IMO it sounded better than the DC header/Magnaflow cat/ApexI WS Catback Im running now.

Yea man sorry I did forget, I've only showed/told about 4 or so people on here about the conversion...

No posting pics of the conversion until its complete...I dont wanna have someone else take my idea and hurry up and do it "first" b/c it'll probably be a while until I get it to my satifaction.

What conversion are you doing this time? If you want to keep a secret PM me, unless you dont want to.

3 year bump.

So I know it's been at least 5 years since I really read your members ride thread, I just saw a post in which you said you still wish you had it.

Did you end up finishing the project? What are you rolling with now?
