well i've been doing some thinking guys.. and i think we should retry having a meet at the local drag strip in budds creek, maryland. this time - however - it will be on a less busy day.. NOT a big event like last time :lol:

this one will be on a SUNDAY (june 26th), which is the routine test & tune day for MIR (maryland international raceway). the track is open for free runs all day from 10am-6pm... you can race as much as you want for $30 (for non-racers, admission is $12). it seems pricey, but its worth it because we'll pretty much have the track to ourselves. not as many people go to this.. so it'll be good to keep organized as a group and you won't have to wait forever in line to race and miss the whole meet!

my plan is to get there around 1 or 2:00pm. beforehand we will hold a pre-meet @ the CSM college parking lot again - just like last time since most of you know where its at by now, its always empty on sundays, and good for picture taking. we can meet between the hours of 11am-1pm... the earlier you get there, the better. then after that, we'll cruse up the road 15-20 minutes to the track. from there, the fun begins. i want to see some racing this time too!

I will be there holding it down for the trucks ;) and camera crew. Should be dropped and ready to race. But one thing with MIR, the track is very temp. sensative. It gets slick easily. i ran it the other night and it rained a very little bit and was spinning through second gear. (never happens) But it is well worth the money. if you get there around 1pm and stay til 6pm that is a lot of racing. There should be i say around 50ish people. But the way it works is you line up and race. No classes no nothing. if you want to race someone then when you are in line tell the people around you and they will move up or back in line.

i'd rather see you out on the strip racing, rather than on the side lines wishing you were racing and not b/c of worrying about your car. everyone should try and race at this meet! afterall, thats the whole point of holding it at the track :)

See You all sundayawesome. yeah the last meet was a lot bigger, but the event it was held at didn't make it feel like a meet (import vs. domestics event @ MIR, last day of the track). this time we won't have as many members, but it should be more organized as a group. its gonna be fun :)

Yeah this should be cool since there won't be many people down there. We should be able to make a ton of passes. Oh yeah, the rsx won't be coming due the drain bolt in the oilpan breaking. I wanted a grudgematch :shrug:

oh that sucks. my accord is having a few small issues with ignition wiring i think.. and sometimes the engine will shut off on me while in gear at high rpm... but i *think* its fixed now. even if its not, thats why they call it "test and tune" day lol. hopefully i can make a few runs without any trouble. i still need to practice my launching/racing since i've only been driving with the 5 speed for about a month now.

You guys know I am down for a meet, but I have been having some serious tuning issues that I am trying to resolve at the moment. If I can tune my car or fix this issue by saturday, I am in for sure. If I don't fix it, I am not going to be able to make the drive to Budds Creek. :shrug:

wow.. we got a whole 3 guys to come out... including me!!! woohoo!!!

well despite the problems everyone seems to be having (including myself), the meet was still on this past weekend. it was me, notorious cb7, flacopower, and DUNKiNUTS (who came with me in the cb). we ended up leaving the CSM pre-meet location early since it was so hot and no one seemed to be coming. when we got to the track, everyone ended up racing... just like it was supposed to be. i was having a few wiring issues (no vtec, distributor firing, etc.) which caused some problems on the first few runs... but nabbed a best of 15.01 @ 94 on the one good run... which i should be able to improve on with fixing these minor problems, launch/shifting practice, and some cooler weather lol.

we also sat out in that humid, 90+ degree weather for almost 2 hours waiting for our class to be called.. when after a certain time it became open runs.. and we didn't know :idiots:

but in the end, i think it was a great event to hold a meet at.. especially when it becomes open runs.. you get to keep getting in line and racing over and over again. this will probably be the next location for md meet #6... whether 3 members or not.

Im sorry i missed it i wrecked my car saturday night coming home from a party. lucky me, it isnt that bad. I need a hood, headlights,grill,radiator,and a front bumper/w carbon fiber mugen lip. Its at a friends house in the garage. I should have her fixed up in no time.

nah its cool... i actually like the meets with smaller turnouts anyways. you get to know the guys that come a little better and its more organized overall. unfortunately i didn't get any pictures or video.

I was just flat broke... and I still am. I ended up hanging with Jak Frostwhite and Empera, and working on emp's Supra for most of the night. Jak took some decent pics of the events, and we had a small photoshoot with the two cbs before emp called me and needed me to come find him and help put the Supra back together. Gotta love parkinglot mechanics!

One of these days we'll be sure to get a good meet going. I figure 7-8 cars is always good... maybe 10-12 if there are a lot of people we already know. It's hard to get to know new people when the crowd is larger than that! There were a lot of people at the CT meet that I really wanted to meet, but didn't.

Heres the 1 and only pic from the meet. Behind the CB7's sits the almighty fully built, turboed and juiced eclipse that was burning up the track with high 14 sec runs all day. Something was wrong with that car, it should have been much faster. :confused:

It was a fun meet considering we wasted 2 hours of racing time standing in the hot sun. I'm thinking about ditching my power steering seeing as I lose my belt every time I run down the 1/4. I dunno why this happens but oh well. After everyone left I had Budds Creek to myself. I made 5 runs by myself because there was nobody else making runs. Best I could manage under the conditions was a 15.49, I've run a little faster but it was just too damn hot. It was fun and the next MD meet should definatly be there.

Only 15.49? That sounds like me! 15.577 was my best so far... I'm not proud of it, but that's all I've done (only made 3 runs in one day... that's all my racing experience).

Right now iam looking for a rosewood Brown 92-93 CB shell w/burdundy interior,coupe or sedan,for parts. I prefer a 5speed but ill take a auto. I have a coupe, but if i get a sedan i can do the trunk swap and the red/clear taillights.

Anyone want to try to cruise Skyline Drive this summer? I haven't done it since high school, and I remember my friend and I tearing the road apart in his 10th anniversary RX-7. It would be a blast to relive some of that nostalgia. I'm going to try to get out there either first or last week in july.
