Well I've started this thread in order to help out everyone with the same goal that I have... to have a working JDM Climate control in there CB7.

Today December 10th 2003 I received wonderful news from Bryan (The JDM Importer I use) at Pro-Link Japan in Hallandale Beach Florida, He has personally located and removed the entire dashboard aswell as several other components I asked for from a 1992 Accord 2.0Si. He said he has removed everything I should need and more, there is no reason why I can't make it work now.

The dashboard aswell as a few other parts has already been loaded into the 40' container for it's trip here to the US. Everything should have cleared customs and arrive here in South Florida by the middle of Janurary.

So that's how it stands right now, I've got it all, just dieing for it to arrive and put it in :D

I'll keep everyone posted on my progress.

i didn't realize you lived in hallandale. a good friend of mine is from there!

anyway, back on topic. please let us know how it goes with the swap. i have no idea how long or how hard it will be to do, and i doubt that i would ever do it, but i'm definitely excited for you.

and 93accordex, if you drop in on this thread, what's up with your jdm cc?!?!?!

good luck with it, can't wait to hear more about it. :)

good luck with it, can't wait to hear more about it. :) I live in Kendall a subherb of Miami. I'm just forutnate to have Bryan from Pro-Link so close in Hallandale. He's the only importer around me I have found that persoanally goes to Japan and inspects the items prior to buying them. The engines he brings are second to none. I used to deal with out of state importers but I got burned on some parts and decided the hell with that. If Bryan doesn't have what I want he rights it down (takes a deposit if necassary) and when he goes to Japan he gets it for me. A+ in my book :tu:.

Thanks for the support I'm sure it will go smoothly, I can't wait to adjust my temp in Celcius ;)Originally posted by accordzoom

What's worse is that before yards would keep a few of them around but now since they are so old they just cut them up, quickly remove anything of value (if someone there is asking for something) and melt the car down as scrap.

I don't even know what the total for mine will be yet as it has to pass threw customs but I'm sure you could get the same deal.

lol id def clean that mofo or get it repainted black I'm called "BustedLX" because my car is just that... busted. If you saw it in person you would know what I meant. My car is labeled one of the "Ultimate" sleepers here in South Florida.

I do have allot of JDM parts that's true but 90% of them are still in storage as I'm not going to put anything on until I get the body work done and car painted. It's just hard to get the money together with all my responsibilities and the fact that everytime I have a little bit saved up it goes into making the car faster :D

2004 looks very promising though, my business appears to see the beginings of prospering, my cc is coming in, and my parents said after they finished remolding their house they would give me the money to get my car painted. So things are looking good.

I have heard that reading and speaking languages like Chinese and Japanesse is so difficult that once you learn that learning other languages is a breeze. So many Japanesse people know english, spanish, etc. English is pretty much the second language there that many citizens know. Esspecially the basics like auto, off, on, no (lol), etc. So I guess it's nothing out of the norm for them.

if I may ask...

what's the deal with the JDM climate controls anyway? Alot of JDM guys like salivate it the sound of it. Does it do anything special over factory? Or is it just a little show props thing? I think it's neat however. Just wondering.

Well aside from the fact that no one has ever done it (atleast no one has stepped forward) it's a fully automatic climate control much like you would find on your newer vehicles and older luxury cars.

alrighty...

so it's like powered manually, like you set it to a temp and it goes there?

93accordEX
01-11-2004, 11:17 PM
powered manually? I don't think I would word it like that. its an automatic climate control, hence it automatically adjusts what you set it to

http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid85/p3d9e52404dad93df90503f7b5d58351c/faba3b54.jpg

set it to 25 (celcius) and it does what it needs to do to get there and stay there. not that its anything so amazing, but you wont have to be like always adjusting it if you start feeling a bit warm or whatever. and yea its just nice to have since pretty much no one else does.

busted lx,

You have the best sig ever. Easily. And even though it's just a little peek, the color of your car looks sweet. Somehow it reminds me of an S13 Silvia...

Anyway, that HVAC controller looks nice as hell...I hope it doesn't need any new sensors or anything though, I imagine it would need some kind of in car thermometer. Unless of course that is built in...

One of those would def. boost my JDM cred though from my current standing of zero...

I never realized that the JDM 4th gens came with the auto-climate control. That is awesome. My moms Acura has auto-climate control. It is nice.
Also, does the system have a thermometor that measures the temperature and adjusts accordingly. That is how my moms works.(You can also set it to a certain temp and it will go there and stay there.) Just curious if it works like that.
It is gonna look sweet when you get it in. Good luck and mad props to ya.:laughy:

I realize that if you set it to 25 it will go there and stay there.

My moms acura has a full auto feature on it that will adjust the temperature accordingly based on the outside temperature. So if it is 30 degrees outside it will make it 70ish in the car. Sorry for the confusion.:D

Ok well Tuesday was the day, Everything I had ordered arrived. Below are the pictures.

I don't know what the phuck this is but it's mechanical and probably not getting resued.
http://www.josebellas.com/images/howto/cc05.jpg
http://www.josebellas.com/images/howto/cc06.jpg
So I finally got a users manual, to bad I can't understand it.

Everything came from a 1990-1991 Accord 2.0 Si. I think I pretty much got everything I need EXCEPT the external air temp sensor. But we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.

I was somewhat dissappointed with the actual condition of the CC itself, But from speaking to Brian they are impossible to find over there now, Not only do I want something from an old car but something froma particularly rare old car. He assured me that when he returned again he would look for another unit in better condition.

I later spoke to a close friend of mine that paints models and he said he could paint those buttons up and make them look brand new so then I was pretty happy. Just more stuff to do is all.

So that's how it stands now. Everythings here, Now I just have to decide if I'm going to keep working on this CB7 or buy another one in better cosmetic shape and start with that one.

By the way the I might be considering selling the JDM cluster to make up some money so if you are intrested please PM me.

BustedLX, Yeah I'd like to know what that thing is between the two center vents?? I saw a 91 Accord at my local junkyard that used to have that thing in the center but someone riped out the switch and just the top led light is still there.... I have a '92 and that spot is blank. I have friends that have 90,91's and their centers are blank like mine. Could this may be a junked Canadian Accord??? I've seen this thing in jdm accord pictures as well, but never in a US spec.

my friends 87 legend has it. flip it down and both air vents blow the same temperature, flip it up and the passenger side blows cold, independant of the driver side's temp.

I've done a little research on it since I got the dash. With the auto CC the Air Mixture (hot and cold) is done by an electric motor, well basically what this does is over ride the auto setting and either make the air chilled or unchilled. Also the little blue dot looks like an LED but it has no connection.

Hey was wondering how much you paid for the dash with everything still intact..and also do you know of any sites where I can get JDM parts for my CB7?

That switch is also seen on the 90-91 Accord with A/c I think the EX,SE and LX for that year have it specifically. I remember seeing one of its kind in a junked 91' CB7.

hope it can help someone out! Yeah that's a pretty old site, a great resource. 93AccordEX and I have checked that site out for reference.

i can take pics of what i have for reference.. but bear with me..i dont have a digi.. only access to a cam phone..

try turning it upside down and it will make it a LHD :D

(i think it would just connect normaly but you would turn the opisit way for the diffrent effect - ie: cold setting for hot or hot setting for cold)

Man this thread is so damn old. I really should just do this one weekend already. I already have all the parts itting in a large box in my closet. I'm just wieghing my options as I am seriously considering another larger more complicated conversion.... but it will be worth it.

I believe you. I've had everything boxed up for what?... four years now... I've just been to lazy to actually set aside some time and do it. That's really all there is to it, my lack of modivation.

If I don't sell the car I'm sure one weekend I'll sit down and get it installed. Esspecially if I can get a new control unit, mine is all old looking with worn out buttons and I really didn't want to install it in my car since it wouldn't match everything, I hate old and beat up sh#t, I try to take car of my car and keep it looking new.

Everyday though it looks more and more like I'm selling my car so who knows.

Congradulations, this is deffinately going to get all the JDM bling gents modivated, lol. :tu:

thanks man i appreciate it, one thing you wouldnt have to have an extra piece for the climate control would you, the one that goes in between the vents, i didnt get it, but i know its to just bypass the auto mode in the center vents, or if you know were i can get one, thanks again :tu:

That mechanical lever is actgually molded into the bezel. The bezel I had was RHD so it wouldn't work for me, I just tossed it. I bought a whole dash with my conversion, but I didn't get the heater core so it woulda been some extra work and parts to get everything working.

Where to get it from? I'm not sure man I basically lost touch with everyone I used to buy things from. I'm not familiar with EDM Accords to much, if there was an LHD model that had the Auto Climate Control I would check, those would deffinately be for the European and Asian markets. All I've seen personally though is JDM RHD versions with auto cc in Japan, Bahamas, England, and etc.

Wish I could be more help.

Did you use all Accord parts for your conversion?

well i used the accord airmix motor but couldnt use the mode motor cause it came from a right hand drive, but the rest of the sonsors were from a prelude, and all the colors were pretty much the same, but some werent

I have everything from the Accord except the mixture control which I have from a 1st gen CL and the in cabin temp sensor which I also have from a 1st gen CL. I'm still missing the heater core temp sensor.

Colors of wires doesn't concern me, that's what scematics, multimeters, brains, and other tools are for lol.

What are you talking about the mixture motor? Are you speaking of the blower assembly?

i think hes talking about the air mix mode motor, the one that opens/closes the various vents... its made to be mounted on the left side of the box, ours is on the right.

damien - did u use the stock one or did you flip the jdm one over and rig it?

...i still need to get around to installing my setup as well, but i wont be using the jdm accord control unit.

It's been so long since I looked into this... BUT why would you need to change the mode motor? The one that switches vents, defrost, etc. if in the LX and EX it's already an electric unit? The mixture control is the one you flip and relocate, etc.

I could be wrong it has been like four years, luckly I know I archived all my research on a CD-Rom that is in the box with all the parts, lol.

hmm maybe im mistaken, i havent looked at any of it in like over a year either LOL, its all sitting in a box and its been even longer since ive looked at the diagrams. youre probably right

i think its because the control unit activates the motor backwards, based on where its mounted... i remember reading about somebody who tried to correct it by reversing the internal motor wiring on the USDM piece, but couldnt get it to work... i was just curious what damien did about this, because the only solution so far that ive seen was a custom jerryrig of the jdm piece, sticking out all weird...

well the mode motor which opens the flaps, u sed the stock one, cause the jdm one want working right since it was for the rhd car, i used my stock one, as for the air mix motor, thats the one that changes from cold to hot, i used the jdm one and mounted it on the bottom and flipped around so it could work, so yeah i had to rig it to make it work right, ill post the pic of later on tonight when i get off work :tu:

Yeah good stuff, that's what I figured. It's not really a rig though... rather a "modification" lol. as long as it works as it's supposed to and doesn't break or screw up something else it's all good.

Edit* Butt connector "spacer" and drywall screw=score! lol. Isn't garage engineering the best, lol. that's why I enjoy projects like this because you can be creative... maybe I will do it if my kids go out of town for a weekend and I'm not distracted. My mixture control is a little different because it's from the CL but it'll probably come down to something like that. The ring terminal end is a nice touch. :tu:
