Nice car cousin. Love the tails and body work. I've never actually seen that engine before in a car...You gonna mess with the interior next?

won't work on the interior till spring; its dirty, but gott get through winter for now, wanna finish up the turbo project first. i tried the DIY black panels and it looks alright...but i'm impatient and very picky. gonna have the interior fully redone in black leather but with red corbeau gt carrera seats up front.

nice... nice cb7 man. at first, i wasn't sure whether or not i liked the taillight conversion - but it's growing on me more and more everytime i look at it. nice choice of exhaust :) i love the apexi ws.

so... you're currently working on a turbo project huh? just curious, will you be boostin w/o a rebuild... or will you have the rebuilt block by then? how much psi do you plan to run?

xplode
12-13-2003, 11:30 AM
nice car man. depending on the build id run 6-8 psi for a daily driver, can go up higher if its not a daily driver.. im not in to kit'ed out cars, but yours is alright by me.. clean outside of the car man :tu: the inside needs a lil work

PRIMOCB7
12-13-2003, 11:40 AM
if the F22B2 block will go on easily without any major modifications, then i'll be able to boost at least 12pds/daily driving. i would really love to have this block but if not, i figure 6-8 pds would be fine with the stock bottom end. about the interior, i know it aint pretty...i hear it all the time. but like i said, that is last on my "to do list."

I got the F22b2 =).. good block for turbo from what i heard.. dunno whats so special bout it.. you running a F20B rite? might take some work to get it to fit. i agree with steve on lets get that turbo running..:tu: once u do tho.. DETAIL IS NEEDED

actually, my motor is a JDM F22B DOHC...pretty much similar to the prelude si (non-vtec) motor. i'm hearing alot of things about whether this will work but imma find out right after the holidays. my friend has this block and is currently running 12pds/daily. he's bringing the car back to stock, and for $500, a block w/je pistons, crower rods, balanced crank, etc., i can't go wrong...as long as it will fit without major mods; but will post it up as soon its done.

lovin that stylish CB7. you got it lookin like the R32's little brother. i have always thought that our CB7s could be made to look almost identical to the R32s, and you have proved my theory with style. just need a slight widebody on it and the skyline look would be finished. this is just my opinion. overall lovin your CB7.

hes right about the heat wrapping if u wanna wrap it ur suppost to do it loosely like wrap it not so tight wrap it so in some places u can still see the header.. not COMPLETELY COVERED.. nice rides.. BAH.. WE NEED MORE F22B DOHC BRETHRENS UP IN HEA!! WOOT WOOT:boink:

your taillight conversion is simply superb. very clean conversion to say the least. at first i was thinking, what did he do to the stock tails... couldn't figure it out until the mods list. i am highly impressed with it.

overall, the car is very clean. good choice of kits to mix. you did well.

please update us with the f22b and turbo install. for us folk who are too scared/too poor to go with an engine swap, you serve as an inspiration. lol

good work!!!

**edit: the name is hot too. primo- number 1, but also a street name for heroin... interesting, very... interesting :) **

about the name 'PRIMOCB7'..in japan, there is a honda racing team known as hondaprimo. so back in like 97' da fellas and i use to ride around with a window banner from either a performance company (i.e. greddy, neuspeed) or from a local performance shop; made no sense since we weren't sponsored so we came up with 'Team Primo'.

how much horsepower does the JDM F22b make ?.. thats the non vtec DOHC rite?..

PRIMOCB7
12-23-2003, 10:45 PM
from what i've heard, about 160hp, similar to the H23 prelude (non-vtec)..could be more, could be less, but all i know is that my F22B is pullin' really hard.

The radiator looks awesome. I was actually looking for one because after the auto to manual swap, I wanted to get one that was made for manuals. By the way, did you say the radiator cost $300?

it was actually $330 shipped next day from radiator.com; its an upgrade, dual core, and mirror finished, no modifications whatsoever.

good looking car, i'll have to get use to the tail lights but they are done cleanly. Did the radiator help bring down the engine temps as far as in the gauge cluster? Hopefully we'll meet at the track one day and u can show me what a DOHC is really all about lol. By the way who's gonna be doing your tuning cause i want a dyno graph with a/f ratio's. I'll post mine up too in mid march when everything is on and working and we'll compare since we have alot of the same fuel management.

yea, many tracks don't let people with shaved door handles run as a safety precaution- i think it's because of the thought that if you were to get into an accident at the track, that it would be highly difficult to remove you from the car.

in any event... the new radiator and catch pan look good. :) do you notice any differences with it, or is it just preplanned work for the turbo?

it is all preplanned work for the turbo, but even for a N/A setup, its worth it. the temp is slightly lower and the oil catch tank does work by catching the oil vapor instead of letting it build up through the intake manifold.

uncle_el
01-28-2004, 06:17 PM
interesting... so if anyone else were to do the radiator upgrade, is it necessary to get the new oil catch tank as well? or is it a combo (i.e. when you purchase the radiator, you also get the catch tank)?

seems like a very worthwhile mod, esp. if the car is going to be run hard and long.

you don't need both..i had to change the radiator coz the stock one was leaking already and i wanted an upgrade; the catch tank i installed coz i always wanted one and the fact that it works for N/A and turbo setups.

nice ride.

to remove that stain. first u should of used a stainless steel brush. u didnt and probably used a copper brush and that stained it...u may be able to use a stainless steel brush and really strip it down.

u can get some mothers polish for rims and use it on that portion and it may work, or get a dremel with some of that polish and that cotton wheel and then work on that spot...

PRIMOCB7

wow, it does indeed look oem. if we didn't know cb7s, we wouldn't know it wasn't supposed to look like that. any wider shots of the car as a whole, just to get an idea of what the entire package looks like?

OMG. nuff said.

btw, it kinda looks (in the pic) that the corner lense juts out a bit compared to the natural curve of the corner. Is that the case or is it just me?

and regarding the hood mods, you said you cut off a bit...so does that mean that the lights are the same as the regular lights length wise and that you only have to cut off a bit in the middle, or does that mean that you also have to improvise by bondo/fiberglassing in the middle of the hood once cut?

sweet as hell i really wanna do this

How much cutting was required for the headlight conversion?

Looks pretty good.

It doesn't look like TOO much work was involved in the conversion, just the hood and maybe the fenders a little?

Looks HOTTTTT!

i like the headlights a lot man :)

one thing i would do is paint that grill mesh black though... i think it would look pretty good - but that's just me.

but yeah, the headlights are really unique and i think they flow with the body lines of the CB well. but as uncle_el stated, i would also like to see pictures of the car as a whole now

..it sticks out on the right coz my fender is an aftermarket one. the left one is flushed nicely tho'..the hood was fabricated of course, but how much, i can't say. i leave all that work to T&S; from what i see under the hood, it looks clean..:boink:

thanx steve..the grill is temporary coz T&S is fabricating one out of fiberglass for me..they said 2 weeks. i'll get more pics of it soon. its been raining up here in NYC, so as soon as the weather gets better..i'll take more pics. btw, how much would it cost for you to come up to NYC and shoot a video of my cb7 :p

..rebels, just the hood was worked on, and the frame where the headlights slide into. the fenders were not touched at all, but the holes where the tabs are for the corner lens were enlarged. the car is actually going back next week coz they need to get rid of some clear coat overspray..hopefully i'll be satisfied with it afterwards..as of right now, i'm still not completely happy with the outcome.

sounds good. is it a particular brand, or generic? i rarely listen to the radio in my car (once every 6 months), and i think the car looks funny with the antenna up (probably because i never have it up), but this would solve that little pet peeve of mine.

..clean was definetely what i wanted to achieve with the body kit. i had the greddy lip back in 97(went through 3 of them), had the vis extreme front & rears:oops:, tried the stock bumpers w/the moldings shaved(sold to excalibur02),and the current r33, buddy club combo.

..honestly, won't find out till i'm done building up the motor, sorry. but for $250, i figure i've nothing to lose. its a 6 puck-ceramic, sprung hub, and yes i can't believe i bought it from ebay. i spoke to aimco(distributor for xtd) and this is an introductory offer. they said by next spring, its gonna be around $350-400. but once i get the car out, i'll keep ya updated.

..i saved $400 by going H22, and saved myself some headaches by not having to wire up OBD2---->OBD1. that extra $$$ helped me plenty :D

swap update
got the motor in last night; wasn't bad, took only about 4hrs. to remove the f22b and install the h22(thanks to mike and roger). everything is bolted on, including tranny and the skunk2 IM----->perfect fit, a bit tight, but well designed IMO. only downside to the install was that i found out my tranny mount was messed up, so gotta get a new one. other than that, i should have it started up by friday evening w/some pics too :D

Sorry if you've already answered this, but rather than drudge thru all 10 pages...
What ECU will you be running?

p.s. congrats on the successful install. If all that went wrong was the tranny mount (especially considering the skunk2 im) be extremely grateful that the car gremlins was fuckin' w/ someone else instead of you nahmean.

i'll be running with a jdmsh!t p28 ecu---->4700 vtec engagement, 8500 rev limiter....as far as the swap is concerned, i really do hope the mount was my only problem. but i'll find out friday evening once i get everything connected and hopefully it'll start up nicely :boink:

the Skunk2 IM doesn't require use of the EGR since there is no opening for it :D i still have my safc, so that will do considering the vtec engagement on my ecu is already at 4700. i plan to get some dyno time so i can compare stats w/ factory cams vs. skunk2 stage 2 cams.

Fastlane is located off Linden Blvd. only thing is, they specialize in euro-performance, such as VWs, BMWs, Audis, etc. Only reason they took my H22 head, was because my friend Greg is good friends with the owner..and the fact that Greg drives and Gti 20th anniversary. It was weird when i went out there..nothing but euro cars in the lot  hit me up on the PM, or email. coz i'll be taking my car to DRT in woodside for some fine tuning, and dyno runs.

worked on the car last night, couldn't wait till friday. anyway, i take back what i said about the skunk2 IM..its a BITCH. my hand hurts coz of trying to squeeze into the back of the IM to plug a sensor, and BustedLx is right, i had to remove the cover for the vaccum box..and it looks ugly:angry: AND, i had to modify my AEM cai so that it wouldn't hit against the abs lines :banghead: AND to top it all off, i can't find my 12mm wrench :bash:

in all, the swap was fun, but still not completed. once i started the car, fuel started leaking from the fuel rail..gotta change the o-rings, cushion rings, and insulators. also gotta clean up the engine bay, finish looming the msd coil wires, and i think thats it. so hopefully, i can take care of it this week.

I used to think that the CC2 Headlight conversion wasn't such a great conversion, now I've seen it on your car and Adams car as well, and man thats the coolest thing ever.

Bodykit just flows flawlessly with the cars. Just the problem you run into is making a custom one off grille to finish up the cars look instead of a gapping hole (Adams' car) and a messed grilled look (Francis).

pretty easy install and didn't have a problem with fitment at all. honestly not the best header out there, but for a $130 shipped, didn't lose out too much.

i remember telling you guys about the wheels, but that was pretty much when i had finally decided to order it. uncle_el, from what i remember was the first one to help me choose coz i had several wheels in my mind. kinda narrowed it down to RO_JA Formula 7 or the Racing Hart J8 PRO..but the RH wheels was about $4500(too rich for me) and only came in 19s(potholes love 19s). but don't worry, it ain't like i sold the car..just trying hard to make sure this is my last mod....i hope

i have no skill in bodywork
the original shave work was done back in 2000; in 2003 was when the tails were converted, and the car was resprayed its current custom black color. then last summer was the CC2 headlight conversion. thanx for the positive feedback and have fun w/ that cai..BUT remember to use the bypass valve!!! ;)

2 things- ok, 3- nice car, you should look into DA Integra front bumpers to match your lights (I hear the bumpers bolt right up, someone had a DA kit bumper on their CB), and are you coming to the meet this weekend @ Randalls Island?
