95, and I'm ashamed of it. Speeding like that is dumb... Once I hit the track I hope to get over 100, and keep it where it belongs.

i'm sure this has been done before, and shouldnt this be in performance section or soemthing?.....anyway 120...thats all my speedo reads, and i was at abt 6.5k i had a bit more on the tach to go, but you catch up to traffic pretty fast at those speeds.

I'm with Deever... doing anything like this on the street is dumb.
I topped out the car once racing a Mustang about 4 years ago, honestly I have no idea how fast it was. Highway curves at whatever triple digit speeds I was doing were quickly becoming turns.
I haven't done any kind of insanely dangerous driving for over a year now, I'm proud to say, and I plan to keep it that way for a long time. When I was too young to be driving, although the law sees things a little differently, I crashed my Accord racing in a residential area doing something slightly upwards of 90mph with a good friend of mine in the car. I missed a guardrail that would have split the car down the middle by about a degree of turn entry angle. My friend and I both walked away from the accident, and I managed to avoid seeing the inside of a jail cell, but needless to say, I was very, very lucky. Especially for my age of 17 at the time.
I've matured, as hopefully everybody does, since then and will not even so much as talk to a streetracer now. The risks are too high, the variables are many and uncontrolled, and there are more innocent lives at stake than most people would care to think about.
In short, before I get off my soapbox, if I find any of you guys street racing, or doing any stupid shit near my area I'm going to come to your house and lecture you to death... right after I boot your car.
*EDIT: I know this thread isn't about street racing, per se', but I've seen too many teenagers talking about "going racing in the sticks on Friday night" and I've seen too many scenes that look like they jumped right out of a demonlition derby lately to lose the opportunity to turn people off of that dumb "hobby."*

About 110 for me...when I first got my accord. Never topped it out b/c like said previously its just stupid...plus I've put too much time and money into my car just to have everything go bye bye with one dumb night. But im not saying I've never raced, because how many people really havent? But I dont race now...plus im too slow anyways.

never topped out...
but i hit 115+ in my 3 speed auto 92 corolla, needle was past the 110mph top of the speedo. it didnt have a tach, but the engine was screaming like a mofo.
got a ticket for 98 in a 65 that night. was driving next to (behind) a friend in the same car, but a 5spd manual version- he got a ticket for 106 in a 65. crazy stuff, i dont suggest it, im sure my tires werent rated for even close to that speed. i honesly could have died in that tinbox. (car was wobbling like crazy)
http://mike.adminity.net/ticket.jpg
that was one hell of a ticket to pay for, $350. never gonna go that fast again, and i suggest nobody else does either.

The only racing I'll ever do is up to the speed limit. I'll take it from a light to 55 on a 55mph road... Even that I rarely do.

I've thought our cars had a speed gov. too, like the rev limiter. So how is everybody doing all these speeds? Computer chip-reprogrammer? I know in my old Xtreme the gov. stalled the engine at about 97 mph. Also what tires are everybody running thats doing 120+ ZR?

I doubt everyone who takes their car up to those speeds has the proper tires to do so... I think accords cut out at about what, 120? Also, h22sparkle has a JDM H22, I believe... no speed limiter on those if I'm correct (I have no interest in finding out for myself... I KNOW my tires aren't made for those speeds!).

yeah thats true very true on the turns but my susp[ension was done to a small factor but it helps. suspension and tires are the key in that part. yes i do have a speed govenor its at 120,125 i believe and its sad i be askin for more. Oh and yeah i did notice the difference when i changed back my rims back to steelies after i busted em so much for turns but power steering with no power seams to soften the blow when your parking.

LX ECU will top out at 120mph, EX ECU will 130mph and JDM ECU has no speed governer from what I heard. The first 2, I have try when I swaped ECU to see if it really an EX, real dump way to test , but it was straight empty highway for like 8 miles at midnight with no car around:) (lucky there was no cops..)

Highest I've been is around 135 but thats only because I got to ride in a cop car and they were chasing someone. The car must have had some serious shit done to it though because it was a crown vic but it was still quick. Highest I've been in my honda was about 90 and I didnt even realize it at first, once the car started shaking like crazy I realized and immediatly slowed up.

I hit 120 in my cb7. I was still in 4th gear damnit. Can't wait to get rid of this governer and see what it will do. Other than that the fastest I've gone was in my brother's Maxima when I hit 135. I also went up to 120 riding on the bike of a motorcycle which came up in about ten seconds from a stop! Riding on a 150+ horsepower motorcycle is very scary...

Yeah, I thought I was going to fall off. It accelerated so hard I could barely hold on to the driver. It was one of the new model Yamaha V max bikes. They are like 145 hp or so from the factory.

my 93 lx shuts down at around 115 to 120 , im not sure if the 17's are affecting the speedo much but it should read like 5-7 mph slower than actual speed from what i hear. although i'm running 205/40's i think the outer diameter is the same as stock but im not sure. i am faster than most turbo eclipse.

In my car, I got upto about 135mph then i just ran out of gear. Car was hitting redline of about 6500. Just needed a 6th gear but alas the car doesnt have one. Car still felt like it could give alot more if only the gear ratio was higher.
I think we are more forgiving for speeding on out motorways here than in America. At night most of them are dead.

The fastest I've ever gone in my Accord on the Street is 110mph. Fastest in my life was in my Acura Legend 6speed coupe where I literally took the needle a little past the 160mph line (It stops at 160) while racing a 5th gen lude, GTI VR6, and GST. Funny thing was the only car up there with me was the Lude. The GST's speed limiter kicked in around 140 and he just lagged behind and the VR6 just backed out.
Took the Lude and me about 3 miles to slow down and I still warpped my rotors, lol. Damn thing was smooth though A/C on and everything.
Never went that fast again though, It was actually stupid, If anything goes wrong at that speed there's no margin for error. But I was young, it was late, and I had just gotten the car so I was beyond cocky :)

ive only hit like around 115 so far, but i haven't had many oppurtunities. it just seems like any time i start to try it out, one fucking car will show up in the distance and that could always be a cop, so i back off. plus it didn't feel like it was pulling much anymore. i was in 4th gear, and doing around 115 once and i went to shift into 5th because i was at around 6000 rpm's, and when i shifted to 5th(i wasn't very quick about it) i lost a lot of rpm's, and i didn't pull hard enough to keep on it, so i just let off
it sucks coming down from that high of a speed, because hitting the brakes can fucking send me into a massive shake. my rotors need replaced.

160 in a Legend, damn. Did it have any mods? I've read that stock MKIV Supras top out around 160, so it's surprising that a Legend would make it that high also.

I find it hard to believe that a Legend can go 160 if the NSX Alex Zanardi Edition tops out at 167 and a Supra TT tops out at 155, especially with A/C on. You better have had it heavily modified to go 160, seriously.

The fastest I have gone is like 97-98ish mph. It is not worth it. It is a rush, yes, but when you start to think about all of the things that could happen it makes you wanna slow down. I used to race people from the lights but I stopped. My girlfriend made me promise that I wouldn't do it any more. Yeah, I know, it makes me sound like I am a wuss, but I know she did it because she loves me. She doesn't mind me speeding as long as it is not excessive. I am glad that she told me to stop. Better gas mileage, no worries about a wreck, no tickets! Racing is not worth it on the street. Besides it is not even real racing. When I would race half the time people would jump the light and I would be waitin' for the green. Oh well. I have had some close calls while driving crazy and I don't wish to relive them so I am not street racing or going up to crazy speeds any more.
One other thing to discourage anyone from going 100+mph. Just before Christmas this guy in my town got a 300zx. He is an awful driver to begin with. He asked his dad if he would help him get it. His dad told him no because he wasn't responsible enough to drive a car with that much power. He then went and asked his mom if she would help him get it and she did. The next day he was driving with a friend at like 120 in the rain and went to make a turn but didn't slow down enough and went off the road and hit a ditch. Both of them were ejected from the car. The driver was crushed by the car and died. The other guy was in acoma for a while(not sure if he still is or not). The point of this story is to say that it is not worth it. It doesn't matter how good of a driver you are, a tire doesn't care. It can blow when ever it feels like it. A blown tire at 120+ is not a good thing and most likely will result in a wreck. Anyway, just keep it to the tracks. Get involved in autocross or drag racing. It is a much safer alternative and it is still a load of fun. I just finished my second autocross and it was a blast. We didn't get over 45ish mph but the cornering speed is what is fun!!!!!! Go out and try it. Try SCCA or a local group. JUST KEEP IT OFF OF THE STREETS!!!!!!!!!

I'm not trying to be an ass or anything but I think everyone here is well aware of the risks. It wouldn't be any fun if it wasn't dangerous. Hell I enjoy putting my life on the line and try to make it a regular thing.... just something I enjoy doing and yeah it is a rush. If I die then at least it will be doing something I love. I try to be as safe as possible because I don't really have a desire to die right now, but shit happens even when you are being safe. Every day shitloads of stupid drivers get in wrecks and get themselves killed even when they are obeying the laws and driving at safe speeds. I'm not really too worried though since my tires are rated at like 160 mph.
