theres been a question thats been bugging me for a while...when you get say a, h22a swap for a 4th gen accord, would you use a prelude exhaust and catalytic converter to match with the prelude exhaust manifold, or would the stock 4th gen cat and exhaust work? im guessing that with the h22a putting more exhaust out of the engine than an f22, it would be a good idea if not a necessity to go with a prelude exhaust, but i am just curious. its been a predicament that i have been ponering throughout the years....

wat most people do is they have aftermarket exhaust with the h22a

The 4th gen cat/exhaust set up will work with an h22 swap... the only problem is connecting the h22 header/exh. manifold to the CB7 cat setup... some welding is involved. Even with an 'true' full cat back set-up (such as Apex-i or GReddy); the problem still exists. It's no biggie as long as you have reputable mechanic do the welding. ;)

yeah.. your gonna want to get the cb7 catback for proper fitment... the only thing you will have to worry about is mating the accord cat with the prelude header.. best bet is prolly just go to a muffler shop and have them weld you a custom one...

You should try www.magnaflow.com, I'm about to drop my H22 with the magna cat-back for my 4th gen. Paid $325-350, cant remember, but I know it's the same company as Thermal. It was rated as one of the top 3 I believe by Sport compact car as the quietest and most straight through giving out the most power, along with apex'i.

i would not stick with a stock cb7 exhaust, too much restriction. If you plan on doing a swap, i would do everything possibly to make the swap worth it, and get every single power gain possible. I'd go with a high flow aftermarket exhaust and high flow cat

on my h22 accord i run an N2 header with the stock ex cat and exhaust. no cutting or welding were involved.

no doubt i am losing some power, but it still has enough oomPh for me right now, and i would rather spend the cash elsewhere right now, like brakes.

But a good exhaust is down the line for me. everyone is always shocked when they ask what exhaust i am running with my swap. absolute sleeper.

i agree. The intake is loud enough, and when it hits vtec x-over it just screams.

Plus i don't want to fall into the same catagory as the ricers around town. I don't want to give the cops a reason to pull me over....my occasional bad driving is enough for that..

this morning's ticket reads: "without due caution and circumspection and at a speed and manner so as to endanger persons or property"

thats what i thought..i heard that it works just fine for 4th gens, but for 5ths there is some welding and cutting involved..

i have heard many people having to cut or weld to make the exhaust work in a 4g.

I don't know why some fit perfect and some don't.

With mine, i had to cut and weld because the flanges are different sizes where the downpipe meets the cat. h22a downpipe and from cat to back is f22a6 (stock accord).

what size piping is the prelude stock?

i may be interested in something a bit bigger if i can do it for cheap right now. Maybe using an accord V6, prelude, or 3.0 CL muffler and getting some bigger i.d. piping made.

Does anyone know if we can modify the accord V6's or prelude's exhaust system to fit under our cars without it hanging too far down? Has anyone tried and has anyone had it done already? Is the Prelude exhause the same as the accord's, just larger piping? Lowered cars is no fun with a lower exhaust piping.

I want to keep the stock look. Is the h22a muffler less restrictive than the f22a6? If it is, I might do 2.5" pipe with stock h22a muffler. Thanks for the help.

What do you guys suggest as far as good performance and super quiet exhaust??? I know it'll never be as quiet as stock but I have a child and I need it to be as quiet as possible!

naa, i dont go there but my gf has a membership and shes there all the damn time. everytime i pick her up or drop her off i see your car parked out front. i was jockin it for a longass time, back before i got more into the sleeper look. i wanted the same kit you have but i decided it wasnt worth the hassle of going sideways are shit like that. i already scrape my exhaust going down driveways...

which btw is an apex ws, and i too vouch for it. sounds great, cause i can barely hear it. a friend of mine got an greddy evo... he may as well have put on a $20 pos from ebay.
