Procedure

File or chisel tools.
Sharp knife, blade, soldering iron or Dremel like tool

1. Remove 3mm of plastic from the left of the center until you have 5-6mm of plastic left.

2. Remove the two guides inside the socket (I used a soldering iron for this. ( I didn't swap O Rings like the other and it worked fine for me)
http://www.bmwe34.net/E34main/Upgrade/Data/3bulb3.jpg
3. Install the bulbs in your car and have your light adjusted if not already.
- I personally have done about 5 conversions and its really easy. just dont burn your self with the soldering iron like i did the first time, it wasnt bad at all just hurt like hell for a sec haha. not even bad enuf for a scar, just red for a day.

Special thanks to..

so what is the point of this, to have highbeam bulbs in ur lowbeam sockets? to have brighter low beams?

yea....more output....i like it...it really improved my vision..its light buying aftermarket headlights that are supposed to be brighter...but this way its a free upgrade...

i put my bulb next to a nokya arctic white/arctic purple/silverstar....

it is near the same brightness as them...amazing...low cost solution for the poor

thats actually a pretty good idea :)

too bad u cant do that with the JDM headlamps... the bulb bases are very different from each other. i guess it would work, but u would need to cut up the housing... which im not gonna risk.

what kinda bulbs is JDM? isnt it like ece?

H1 Highbeams:
http://mike.adminity.net/93lx/mods/h1%20xenon%20superwhite%20highs.jpg

H4 Lowbeams:
http://mike.adminity.net/93lx/mods/h4%20xenon%20superwhite%20heads.jpg

and the way the H1's are mounted, they have a bigger plastic base that they plug into. its weird.

the H4 has a big hole, and the 3 tabs on the sides lay on the lip and a metal bar holds it down.

the H1 bulb fits thru a small hole, just big enough to fit the small glass bulb thru.

sorry its kinda hard to explain without good pics.

ah...those should be pretty bright though....h4's rock....they put out more lumens than a standard 9006 or even a 9005 i believe....i just dont like the "dual beam" conept that they are high and low....cuase hondas dont support it..

forget that...do some ghetto riggin'...i remember someone converting those...i forgot how though....i think they did h1 to h4....me and xplode talked about this a while back

u know what, its worth a shot. i think ill try it.

btw, those bulbs pictured are from the ebay auctions i won a long time ago. i got all 4 bulbs shipped for $12, and they have been working fine for a while, and they look great... i like them alot better than stock, and its surprising, cuz they were the cheapest ones on ebay.

hehe if anything happends dont blame me....but they should just be about the same amount of draw for power on the system....they run on 12 volts but not sure about the amperage...but heck if you can DO IT haha that would look sweet..

if you do do it, get before and after shots....

sure thing. i have a set of stock bulbs from japan, and they are labeled:

H4- 60/55 W
H1- 55W

so current draw shouldnt be a problem.

id wonder what your h4 bulbs are running...in high or low?

humm perhaps i should do a before 9005 and after 9005 conversion...so people can see...but thats a pain cause my camera sucks bootie

woaahhhh wait a minute kids... you dont want to try to modify the 9005 for a H4 housing.. no offence but thats the most ridiculous thing ive ever heard.. it will fuck up the beam pattern and give you the light equivalent to a teeny tiny flashlight, and it will be spread out fucked up.. dont try those types of conversion...

what is it you guys are trying to do?.. fill me in because rite now it sounds like somthing that wont work at all.

were fitting highbeam bulbs into the lowbeam bulb spots, not mixing up 9005/h4...

im aware of that.. but if you got JDM lamps. you dont have any options of a conversion because your running H4.. for normal USDM lamps 9005 conversion is swapping for a high beam in low beam.. your JDM lamps have no option of any type of swap at all.

for the usdm lamps, what accordztech is doing, is swapping a 9005 into the 9006 spot. i have jdm lamps, so im not gonna be able to do the same, so im gonna try fitting an H1 into an H4 spot.

xplode

that will not do anything, the filaments wont line up and the light output will have dark and light spots... horrid for vision. youd make things worse.. not any better..

hmm i just had a talk w/ xplode on aim, he cleared it up... the h1 isnt any brighter/better than the H4, its the same wattage, its just the housing that its in- putting an H1 bulb in my H4 spot wont make anything better. the reason the 9005 is better than the 9006 is because it IS a higher wattage.

yes... ztech your giving out false information again  The only reason the 9005 swap works is by puttin more lumens onto the road in the same place that you had light before.. it did not mess up the beam pattern.. just put more light where you already had it.
