Removed My Dash Today

GOT DAMIT...
not mad about removing it, plan to do some custom interior to it for the 3rd time, but what im pissed about is while removing the dash, i broke the damn headlight switch and couldnt find a way to rig it.....DAMN
now i have to head to the junkyard sometime this week to get a new one:(

Is it just me or did you or anyone else who has tried to remove their dash for that matter had trouble fitting it over the steering column. Is there something I'm not taking off that needs to be or does it just require you to maneuver it in a certain way to get it off? I've got a black one off of a donor car in a junk yard so speed was more of a priority than quality. I just want to know about the problem I encountered to know if there's a way of avoiding it.

The nice thing is that you only have to get the headlight portion, not the whole combo switch.
