what if i put a pair of h3 bulbs in that space inside of where the bumper light bulb is? would that make a cool fog light or would it be kind ***? im half drunk right now. thanks.

thought about that, it would get too hot and melt it :\

im not going to go as far as call it ***, because its a smart idea infact i even thought of it myself a long time back, but heat is a major factor and so is the wiring. The heat will instantly melt the cheap plastic housing which is made for a 5-12 watt signal bulb.. a 55w is out of the question.. another reason is teh wiring for the signals is liek 14-18 guage.. which cant even handle the h3.. youd need to rewire and design a special housing that meets DOT Standards for optics.. and its not likely that you will be able to design a housing..

oh thats prollly one of the best ideas ive heard yet, much better than that 9006 conversion.. but sadly it is not an easy retrofit.

couldnt you just drill a hole over there and put it in? maybe? maybe not? im no longer drunk. an h3 bulb isnt that big and the lenses on my fog lights never melt. just wondering.

i know one way to find out if it will work...

sure your lenses will melt. the bulb housing is not made for 400+ degrees of heat... you will burn your wiring also.. doesnt matter it will not work without major work.

actually if you look hard enough there is a guy with a 93 accord i believe on car domain that has made that work not sure if it's a 93 but it's a 4th gen

nope that was a 9005, but he made custom housings and shit.. he re wired everything..

here is a thought. in someones daytime running lights they made the bulb run at a lower wattage by putting 2 500ohm resistors. now with that said, cant we put like some resistors for the bumper light? it wont be as bright, but still shine brighter than a normal bulb...
may be a stupid idea but its a thought =)

whats the point then, its either fogs or nothing.. no need to do anything extra just to earn the output of a 1156 Bulb.. might as well do tha standard conversion.. :sigh: ztech..

i didnt mean put the 1156 bulb into full usage, i meant wire up an h3 into there and let it shine. I would wire it separetly as my aftermarket fogs are now. do h3 bulbs get that hot?

im aware of your point bro, yep h3's get real hot.. they give off alot of heat. all halogens give off alot of heat.. most housings are made so the heat has a way to vent and or a way to dissapate without causing problems.. although what ztech was talking about was wiring a h3 up with resistors and by the time u do that its just gonna be the same brightness as a 1156 stock bumper bulb and theirs no need for all that bs.. it wont be any brighter..
