I have a question. Thsi question is rather embarassing, as I am a tire technician and an alignment specialist at tires plus, but I jsut wanna get a second opinion on this..to make sure that I am right. I think I am just over-thinking this issue.

I recently bought rims, with kuhmo ecsta 711 205/40/17 tires. There is a lip around the edge of the rim, but there is no tire to protect it. I want a tire that the rim will tuck into. I believe they call them rim savers. anyways, can I go to liek a 215/40 tire? I tihnk I can, and that will help take care of the problem, but then again..I jsut am not sure..any ideas?

Yes, as long as you've got a reasonable offset you can run 215's.

215/40/17 is kinda thin for accords. go 215/45/17!!!

From what I've been told by my local shop, you can get a 215 on a 42 offset rim but you'll probably experience rubbing when you load it down with passengers.

I was going to run 18's but I agree with most everyone that the 17's look fine on the CB7 with the right drop. Plus, I don't have all the headaches of rolling fenders, tuning the suspension, rubbing and what not. I still want to drive it like a daily driver.

I have 215's on my 17x7 wheels. It works out for me. But, the main reason why I went with the 215's is because I love wide tires. :D

I run 215/45/17 since my road are bad, and 45 profiles has enough air to take a few good pot hole and survive. the 40's are ok and 35's hope your road are nice and flat, any med size pot hole and your tire could blow and your rim is bend, crack, and damage. Know your road/street edition condition, buying the same style rim for replacement are a pain to get. if your going to run 35's buy 5 rim you going to the extra...

just my 2 cent.. I have blew 205/40 and 225/35 and when they do blew you or your car might not make it home at all....
