You may be correct.

Nobody is being run off. Enforcing rules only when we feel like it is what kills communities like this. Nick broke the rules. I like nick. I respect nick. I think he is a valued member of this community. But he broke the rules, and is subject to the same consequences as everyone else.
When we play favorites, things fall apart.

To give you the answer you’re apparently looking for:

I banned Erik many years ago. I do not remember the circumstances. However, I enforce the rules without discussion or explanation. It is not our policy to make exceptions simply because someone is popular.
I banned Nick for one week. I explained the ban in a message he will read when he next logs on.

Lately, I’ve done my best to simply delete any such posts before they are seen, and I message the poster about the rule they broke. That’s as close to an exception I will make. However, the new member, as well as Erik, had already seen and responded. There was no longer an option to delete the post. The only option was to enforce the rules.

If you ever have questions or criticism, I would prefer a private message, not a public one such as this. You’re already asking much of me to explain my actions in a matter that does not concern you. Doing so publicly is rather insulting.

Not sure. I've never heard of that, and it doesn't do it to me when I try it. Could just be a glitch. You can always type the tags manually too. [img ]urlforyourpicture[ /img] (without the spaces... I just put them there so they'd show up.)

What's wrong with whores? Whoring is against the rules. We want people to understand how things work here before they're unleashed in the rest of the forum.
Thank you for deleting the thread. The last guy I called out for breaking the rules got himself banned.
I'm not as much of a dick once you're out of this section... and the reason for it is that just about everyone in the rest of the forum knows and follows the rules. Hammer it in early, and it makes for a better experience for everyone later on.
