Also check you brake booster, it may be leaking causing an excessive vacuum leak...

It may also help to lube the rod and lock mechanism. The actuator may be gunked up and dirty enough to cause a problem in the cold. Time to take the door apart and have a look at everything.

Sounds like it could be an alignment problem, specifically toe spec. You get a rough check of your toe spec with a tape measure if you are really thorough.
