Did you pull the dizzy plugs? I would verify all connections again and check for spark. Your coil or igniter could have went out on you, just at the right time. EGR wouldn’t affect your start

If your referring to the front bumper, those rods are connected to the support beam that sits inside the front bumper. You can get those at the junkyard for pretty cheap. Or Paul(Fleetwood) has one...

I honestly didn’t have any issues with my chrome trim. I didn’t break any clips and the screws didn’t strip. Was pretty straight forward.
