Aluminum doesn't rust.... you would buff to get more ... shine. There's different products for this, some claim to "hold in protection" etc. Maybe I'm reading you wrong though.

Shouldn't be too hot over on that side of the turbo and all of this is to keep the bay looking clean. If I could I'd install an electric pump and reservoir but that will come another day.
