I would also put power on the remote input wire when you switch over. Try connecting with the pin 9 5v output first. If that does not turn off the tuner then try 12v.

You would need to basically need to fabricate a whole new steel package tray and weld it in to make it strong enough. Then fabricate a new way to hold up the trunk lid. Not really worth the effort.

I know this has been a while

Melted fuses are from either too much current or loose connections. I would use a bolt down amg fuse or eliminate fuse with fusible link at alternator instead.

Sad, but spectators should be aware of what is going on around them and not place themselves in vulnerable places. I would be very cautious being around any car racing slicks on the street.
