Yeah I guess that is preload too, I was thinking of the adjustable bars that you need to extend slightly to take up the slack in the mounting hardware. I don't think this would be an issue with ESP...

I would try a conventional 10w30 oil made for old/high mileage engines, like Castrol GTX High Mileage.

Also whatever you do, do not use gear oil in a Honda tranny.
