ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    eating oil!!

Well i have been trying to find the reason why my CB is eating a quart of oil every five hundred miles. My compression seems fine and i can not find any leaks so i was going to try to put new valve seals. What do you think about superteck valve seals or should i just go OEM? Oh i what other thing can cause my motor to go through that much oil? Thanks
Take a look at my MRT!! Thanks

if you have ruled out an external engine leak, it can be burning in the cylinders. This would be caused by worn piston rings or, I think, poor or burnt valve seals .

It could also be due to leaky spark plug tube seals. Check to see if your plugs are covered in oil. ALWAYS investigate simple solutions before jumping to more complicated and expensive conclusions!

have you messed with the oil filter at all recently? i actually found mine to not be so tight and its reduced the comsumption a good bit. also i have replaced my tube seals but it didnt work so i think i have something else wrong. possible warped valve cover or something.

Yea deever that is all new with my a6 cam swap. Do you think those valve seals will work or go with oem ones? And then if that is not the problem think it will be the rings even thou it is holding compression.
Take a look at my MRT!! Thanks

I've never done valve seals, so I can't say from experience... However, OEM is always the best choice in most cases.

If the valve seals were the issue blue smoke would be coming out the tail pipe...

I'm getting around 155 per cylinder +- 10 psi, I am not getting any smoke out of tail pipe. So now I don't know what to try just want it not to eat or burn any more oil.

Perform a leak down test?Compression doesn't seem that bad off, but a leak down will tell you far more.Check main seals?I think you'd see an oil leak if its losing that much.
