    Proper Rims/Tire size?

Hey Cb7tuner, I'm looking to replace my 14 inch hubcap wheels and I don't know a thing about wheels. I honestly tried looking around cb7tuner but all I could find were threads about what size looks the best and the rim show off thread (15's, 16's, etc.), not too much into detail.

I do plan to lower my car to where it sits right above the rim and I want a proper fitting size. I'd really like to try to learn everything by myself but I don't want to buy rims and waste money with them not fitting right if I don't get it right. With that being said, I want to choose aftermarket rims that are 15's to look and feel as OEM as possible. Could anyone help me choose a specific rim size 15 x (?) + (?) etc. and tire size that would have good, proper fitment? Thanks a lot for your time!

I'm confused, do you want OEM fitment or something that fills the wheel well a little more? If oem, just stick with an oem sized rim. Proper fitment is pretty subjective...it could range from 15x6 to 15x9 with several amounts of offset.

I suggest learning about rim width, offset and how they are related.
Check out the rim show off thread again,

The OEM aluminum wheels on EX and SE models are 15 x 5.5 and used 195-60/15 tires.

Honestly it's all up to what you like. I've seen everything from 14's up to 20's. I personally think CB's look perfect with 17's. Mine is 5 lug converted and I'm running 17x8 +45 Acura TL wheels. My only complaint is I wish the offset was a tad bit lower. My autocross wheels are Enkei RPF1's 17x8 +35 and sits beautifully with a 245 tire.

Do yourself a favor and run either a 15 or a 17. Tire selection in a 16 kind of sucks, even though it's really the best compromise in weight/diameter. I love my 16x7 TSW's mainly because they're only about a pound heavier than the same size RPF1, but I wish it were a little bit wider so I could properly take advantage of the 225's I run for autocross. It really boils down to what you're wanting to do with your car.

turboHLS30: I'd love to see your setup.

I'm running 16" and love it. Best bang for the buck.

Stick with 15' rims, tires are cheap at that size.

Then use this to play around with what tire sizes you can afford:
                http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

Ive used 195/50/15, they were pretty nice. made the speedo off 5mph, it read 60 I was going 55, but handling was a lot better and the car accelerated a bit faster

right now I have 215/60/15, and makes the speedo 3mph off, so at 60 im going 63, handling is still good and theres more meat for the chuck holes around here.

The other car (96 accord) has 185/65/15, they suck compared to the other sizes, rides fine but any aggressive driving and they squeal pretty easy, kinda feels like im riding on marshmallows.

Save your 14's and use those for winter tires if it applies to you. tall and skinny is good in that situation

I always just go on tirerack.com. Pick a wheel that is the size you're interested in, and they'll tell you what size tires will fit properly.

You can generally go +/- 5 in tire size, in both width (the first number) and aspect ratio (the second number... basically, the sidewall height.) More than that, you'll experience issues. Usually, there's no reason to get any tire size that isn't "correct". If you know enough about the effects of different tire sizes (as Erik hinted at above with his own setup), then you'll likely know enough to determine what works best for your needs. Until then, just get the "correct" size and you'll do just fine!

What size tires do you put on your TLs just so that they would be the same size as your autocross wheels?
