ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Are CB's worth modding?

To begin with, my parents just bought me a 93 cb7 and I already have some plans for it. However, as it being such an old car, they don't approve of me modding it because they told me it'll just crap out on me in a couple years and the money used to fix it won't be worth it.

Basically what I'm asking is, how reliable are cb7's? My F22A1 has around 160k already and I don't plan to do an engine swap either but I love the car and I've spent countless hours of deciding on what mods I should do on the little amount of money I have.

Don't look around the site.... there is nothing for you to learn about or see how people are modding these old cars.....

Check out the members ride forum and look at what people are still doing to these cars.

Whether or not it's worth modding is up to you and the current condition of the car.

However, if you have no money to mod a car... I suggest that you save it for something else!

Sorry I know it's a pretty dumb thread, I know it's cb7tuner and I guess I expect everyone to tell me it is worth modding, but maybe they could share some problems they had and if they regret modding it, etc.

i dont regret modding mine at all. in all honesty, im not a big fan of new cars. i just dont like all the computer and crap that they jam in them. i like my 21 year old accord because its just me and the car. i slo love the way older cars look, especially hondas. ive made it mine by modding it, something ill never regret. i have some problems with it, but what 21 year old car wont have problems?

It's not a dumb thread dizzyw, I believe a lot of people will tell you the engine is pretty reliable since many have gone over 200k and obviously it's a Honda. I've learned this forum has a lot of information and a good community in which people are willing to help and answer your questions so even if there are problems, you could just post a quick thread about the problem and it may not even be a big deal. In the end, it's really up to you though. I was in the same position as you before, but I've decided to get the smaller and cheaper mods out of the way for now just in case.

Deff for sure an understatement there.

To the OP: Besides if it was taken good care of it certainly won't crap out on you in a few years, honestly that's where I think your parents are wrong IMO. I have gone through my fair share of CB's and there is something about this gen of accord that I just love. It's well put together and it will last so long as you take care of it. Simply put.

Personally I love my cb7 I have gone through 2 motors(turbo charged and not built) and now i am fully building my next one. They are an easy chassis to work on and like stated earlier there isn't much emission system or computer stuff in our car. Parts are in abundance and pretty cheap. But it's all in the eyes of the beholder. It's up to you to decide if its worth it.

While I'm with you on preferring older cars, the CB is a poor comparison when trying to make something "modern" look bad. These things are pretty well-equipped. The only real differences from the average modern car are the number of airbags, the size of the crumple zones... and a remote key fob. We've got ABS, power everything, cruise control, a/c... Christ, the EXs and automatics even have an active engine mount! Something Porsche is only just starting to utilize to help on-track performance! Aside from the ignition system, the engines are basically the same.

dizzyw, if you like the car enough, take a thorough look through the engine and suspension/brakes and replace anything that looks like it might be on its way out, and it'll last you at least another 100k miles. If you can upgrade along the way, that's a bonus - say, replacing worn OE shocks & springs with quality aftermarkets that also give a nice drop; or if you eventually want to build the engine you could swap the rotten exhaust system with larger, mandrel-bent piping and tasteful mufflers. My Accord was at 250k before it supposedly crapped out - I say "supposedly" because I didn't care to look into it and just took it as an excuse to swap in an H22! I freaking love the CB chassis. I think it has real character, plenty of project potential in an indirect sort of way, and I love that they're rarely customized to any serious degree.

Yes the cb is old but if taken well cared of , it will last you a long time. No different than any other older car. Modding is up to you. Start smalln, then work your way up. Since you love your car you willsee more value in it.

Ive had my cb sedan for 2 years already and had little to no problems with it. I keep up maintence and do my regular checkups. She runs beautifully and rides good. She hasnt left me stranded.

I hate the fact that I stripped my CB to a shell, and sold it to scrap metal.

Is your CB worth modding -

                              1) Yes
                              2) To the eye of the beholder
                              3) To the other eye of the mechanic spending time on it.
                              4) To yourself in the long run when you feel satisfaction

Such a broad question is GOING to attract random answers.

The honest answer to your question "Are CB's worth modding?" is:
                              What do YOU think?

A "Finished" project car is never finished until its been sold.

If at first you don't succeed, Try again. Don't give up too easily, persistance pays off in the end.
