It may not be too bad. I dont know about the coupe but the 4 door trunk is heavier to open than I thought it would be. It all depends on mounting where it will have enough leverage to lift without throwing it open. I need to clear out my trunk, and do some measuring. open and closed to get an idea what length shocks to get and mark mounting points. It'll probably take longer to clear out my trunk.

      bringin it back....
did this today, very exciting, I love it...

one thing not mentioned, but can be found with a little research is drill bit size.
use a 17/64 drill bit. then you 8mm x 1.25 thread pitch tap
above numbers are for the legend shocks. if you use something else this might be different.

      nice DIY!

nice write up! I did mine a couple years ago using hood shocks from a chrysler sebring, and ball mounts from a Mazda 3 decklid hinge and a pickup truck topper hatch. It basicly came together like yours only I welded everything in. Nice job

any evidence of the hood buckling just in front of the hood support hinges?
I'd like to try this, but my concerns are that there could be too much torque on the hinges and make the hood buckle when you try to close it.

            just thinkin' aloud.

the best damping pressure is +-25kg.

Off-topic. But why were the springs taken out? It shouldn't have been to make room for 6x9s. They fit without leaving anything out of the car.

It's custom made from a damper manufacture here in Malaysia. The measurements and the pressure is follow my existing Daihatsu G200 rear trunk damper.I just made a bracket to bolt it on the hood bracket.
