I believe it is possible, correct me if I'm wrong, but the V6 Camaro's were just a 2.8 Litre in 1989. Not that much bigger than an Accord.

Yeah, v6 craparos and stangs especially autos are slower than crap. We took out a 94 auto v6 mustang, couldnt even get the tire to spin unless you turned really fast and gunned it.. and even then it would spin for a split second. 0-60, i could prolly run faster than those cars.

I raced a V6 Firebird once... I saw him trying to take on an Audi A6 or something (that thing SMOKED him). I figured he probably had an 8, since he was willing to try something that powerful. Still, he hung with me decently. I didn't shift the best, and the roads weren't great for it, but I DID win with little trouble. I found out he had a 6 afterwards (kinda killed the thrill...)

Those 6s aren't fast by any means. Chances are that an 89 probably has some lost power due to the age of the car as well. It's not entirely impossible.


From www.camarosource.ca : The V6 engine for RS Coupe models was the 173ci, 135hp (RPO LB8).

That means he had a whopping 10 horsepower on you, 300lbs of exrtra weight, and 3 more years of what was probably harder use (people generally abuse sports cars). The only thing he probably had on you was a bit more torque from the larger engine. Why does everyone see this as BS? I'd love to see someone do a LITTLE research before throwing up the BS flag!

i once raced some kind of 1980s v6 from pontiac, old 80's sunfire or sumthin, anywyays i gave him a head start and passed him by like 6 cars. you have to remember its an american engine they are shitty. lol my escort, i floor it at a stop light, and people are passing me just driving normally.

I remember when i went and got my car dynoed. It dyno something like 109 with 200,000 miles pretty sad, but the 93 mustang gt after me which had 150,000 miles dynoed 120 thats 11hp diffrence. Trust me a 89 camaro v6 would be easy pickens. no problem

1989 chevy camaro V6 RS only has 135hp and 160 pounds of torque... so with a stock accord its already a pretty good match
