The washers are for adjusting caster. It is entirely possible that one wasn't needed on one side. Removing washers increases caster - installing washers decreases caster so I don't think you want to install one on the left side. If you don't have a washer on the right side, the only way to increase caster is to cut back the shoulder on the rod to allow it to be pulled further forward relative to the bushings. You could try loosening the entire front cross member and pulling it forward (undo the radius rod nuts first).

Since my alignment, the steering has been really good. It's nice being able to concentrate on the road rather than having to always compensating for a pull to either side.

I was able to fix my leaking taillights the other day. Next up - transmission side crank seal, redo the oilpan gasket and possibly reshape the pan flange. It's getting cold though and if I need to work on it I'm bringing it into the garage man!

I also got a new carpet online. Very nice thick rubber backing, preformed, etc. I'm wondering how much trouble it would be to bring an upholster a brand new (Honda) seat cover and see if they can match the material anywhere. I was surprised to see my color, grey, is one of the few pieces they have left.

Getting cold? In TX? They're talking possible flurries up here on Thursday. And the only thing I can get in my garage is 1 1/2 bays of parts and a wrecked 92 coupe.

Ok, ok, it's not like Ohio cold, but we'll have stretches here in Dallas where you definitely cannot go outside without a coat.

Speaking of which, I just had a 220v outlet added to the garage and installed a heater so I don't care how cold it is, I'm working on my car!! I got a chance to test it out last night while switching out my trunklid for the newer style.

It took some massaging at the trunklid mount points but it looks very close to being spot on.

Thanks And wouldn't you know it? We just had a bunch of rain over the last week and now my trunk is full of water again. More taillight gaskets inbound.

On a side note if anyone reading has a '90-91 that needs the older style taillights or gaskets let me know. My old ones are pretty good, no cracks or big scrapes; nothing broken on them.

There are multiple ways that water gets in the trunk besides the tail lights. Check the area under the chrome trim at the bottom of the rear windshield. There are eight clips that penetrate the body and have thin gaskets - these age and leak. If you stick your finger up through the long slots, feel around for water in the trough, if it is wet, the clips are leaking. Pull the left trunk liner and check around the vent - I just had to replace the gasket on my wagon vent and my 92 EX coupe is leaking there as well. On the right side, there is a white clip that supports the top edge of the bumper about halfway from the wheel well to the back - it also has a thin gasket that is leaking on my 92 EX coupe. If you still have a power antenna, make sure its drain tube is connected to the drain grommet.

Hey Paul, thanks for bringing that up. I've seen you post that exact detail in other places and it hasn't been lost on me. When I last redid the gaskets on my old taillights it did do the trick. No other leaks. These new taillights are now suspect. I'll get to them soon.

But the thing I wanted to do for today was pull the old nasty carpet. I did think about just cleaning the bejeebus out of it, but it's so faded in places it's not really worth it to me. It's gone to a very light grey in some spots. I'm going to get the rear seatbelts done too. The lowers are just gross and the shoulder belts are both frayed.

                  The aftermath:

No real rust to speak of, just sludge from coffee or soda.

I kinda like doing interior work. If you find a first gen TL or RL they often have a nicer gray carpet that would probably fit in a CB with some trimming. Either that or CD Accord gray carpet would be a great fit. Like the newest and cleanest you can find. Like 97 Accord carpet.

I've cleaned carpeting out of the car with Oxyclean, then power washed it (hot sunny day does wonders for drying it). Jarrett either has a thread, or buried in an MRT, how he went about dying carpeting black for one of his cars. You could try dying it if it not too worn. I successfully dyed a set of blue floor mats to make them a nice uniform (if darker) color.

Jarrett's carpet dying is here: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthre...pet+dye&page=2

Depending on what I'm doing to the car, how long it'll take, how messy it is, and how fast I want to get the car back up and running affects which route I take when doing something to this old thing. Believe it or not I drive this thing a lot! It's pretty much relegated my Camaro to garage bitch. In this case I know if I'd decided to attempt a clean and dye job it could've very possibly turned out like crap and either I'd never be happy with it after reinstalling or I'd do all the work, not like it, and end up buying a new carpet anyway. I've got my replacement carpet already. I've just got a little bit of cleaning of the floors left to do, and I may pick up a tool or two to make trimming holes a little neater before I get to installing it.

Just a heads up if you're ever planning on stripping your interior down pretty far. The lower B-pillars mount up top on two super sharp spring steel clips on either side up high on the plastic. Be VERY careful when taking this piece off the car and don't slice your hand like I did.

See the two protrusions up high? The clips hold those.

                          Close up.

Here's the clip from one side. You can see it's got two little fangs on it, perfect for slicing skin. I'm covering them up temporarily with packing tape here.

I'm not exactly sure the correct way to remove that panel. Maybe slide upward?

If you had a coupe, I could have set you up with a pretty clean gray or maroon OEM carpet.

If I get another (which I very well may after I graduate in late Sept) it'll probably be a wagon. I really like the extra utility, plus it would be a sweet platform to swap a motor into for a sleeper. Has anyone ever put an NSX motor in a CB7?

                              One can dream.

Realistically, would you want an NSX motor in a CB? I can understand the novelty of saying you've got an NSX motor in your Accord, but a J is more compact, much cheaper to source, cheaper and easier to maintain, a few are more powerful in stock form, and I would think they're cheaper to modify.
