It's officially official that your car is official; well, at least in my book it is. Keep it looking good.

              Blacked out Fogs?

I was doing some experimenting with an already damaged set of Fogs that I picked up from mitsubishiv5. I bought them off him with the intention of having something to experiment with. I haven't seen anyone try this before, however I know I'm not the first to. I took the good Fog light cracked it open and blacked out everything except the actual functional section of the fog light housing. It's rough inside but I mainly did it to get an idea of what it would look like. IMO it's a subtle difference. I'm going to install it and take comparison shots after the OEM harness arrives. Odds are they are they are coming apart again to prep and paint them properly. I might black them out entirely if I do an HID projector retrofit. Here are the first shots I took with my phone.

So here are the comparison shots mounted on the vehicle. It's hardly noticible in my opinion but I think i am going to go ahead to prep and paint both sides properly.

                      Patience is virtue

So this simple project is leading on. I went ahead and tore apart my second set of fog again, and sent them in to get dipped in chrome. I had my buddy (mitsubishiv5) take the reflecting dishes over to a to a chrome plating company to have them dipped in chrome. However since there were some issues with the shape, chrome wasn't an option. They said that the dishes could be dipped in nickle instead and then polished to a mirror finish. So I confirmed, and this is how they came back.

Trying to stick to the formula I then taped them off and prepped them for paint

I waited till I had time to do this in the sunlight to paint them, unlike my grill. So today we went to the yard to look for treasures before the super bowl. I came up on another pair of yellow fog light caps, and then headed back home to spray the fog reflectors. This is the finished product.

I really love how everything came out. Some more pics will be posted soon after the housings are ready. This was just an update. Hope you guys like it. I'd like to send a big Thank you to my buddy Mitsubishiv5 for all his help.

Whats the address of the Chrome company, and how much did it cost? I have some fogs that are rusty and would like to restore them.

They need to be prepped properly before sending them over. I didn't know so one wasn't perfect. The other came one out flawlessly. Just need to make sure that that it's all smoothed out and free if rust before hand. Any imperfection will be seen afterwards. Unfortunately they are not chrome, but dipped in nickle and then polished out to a mirror finish. The cost was $100.

It's all good bro. I am usually willing to help out as much as I can. Having someone around that is all into their CB as much as I am is awesome. Actually your more die hard about your CB than I am. I definitely feel the drive to get things done on my car as well. Your gonna have to meet my buddy Ryan soon. He has a beasted out H in his CB. He's a total gearhead.

I gotta say this forum is great for motivation. All the people here share, contribute and inspire me in many ways. Can't wait till the next CB7 Norcal Meet.
