ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

I've always wondered what the quick release hubs were for. I know that on actual race cars, due to a lack of seat sliders, the ideal close-up seating position requires you to take the steering wheel off to get out of the car.

But we have seat sliders. So what gives? Is it anti-theft? I'm pretty sure a thief would just purchase his own NRG steering wheel...

It is a little more complicated than that. They would need the steering wheel with part of the release(the part that bolts to the wheel) that fits on. There are many different hub quick releases out there and most are unique to that brand so they cant mix and match. Also if you are worried about that they have a locking cover so you cant remove it without breaking the hub off.

plus nobody is going to be carrying a steering wheel around ready to steal a car.

You obviously have never been to Fayetteville NC... My friend's 81 Firebird was stolen and it's steering wheel was in the trunk(those cars dont have internal trunk releases). We were in his house, heard it start up, walked outside and it was just pulling out.... Never found the car after that.

Fair enough. Good to know that the locking system isn't a breeze to bust.

I figured that as a thief, I would know that tuner parts would turn a large profit. Since removable steering wheels are a good sign that a car is owned by a tuner, it sorta seems like a removable steering wheel would be a tip-off that there might be other slick parts worth stealing on the vehicle. It would then be in my best interest to figure out how to handle cars w/ removable steering wheels and target those vehicles specifically. Then again thieves aren't always the sharpest of people, so maybe none of that would even cross their minds. And, there obviously are other tuner-tip-offs, like rims, stereo systems, etc.
