I get the point about not having it consume you and I agree, it is like the car fanbois making the car look bad. Like how some think Hondas are the best thing and they will defend it to the end. I'm not saying Hondas are bad cars, just that because your preference does not agree with others does not make them wrong.

This thread wasn't really aimed at anyone on here, even if it sounds that way. When i say, "on here" i really just mean't the internet. Was too lazy to correct it lol.
I have nothing against organized sports. I played them as a kid. It's just annoying that if i want to go on to a website or into a restaurant(D&B) or anywhere for that matter, that people can't act like adults. They have to yell and scream and start fights and act like if their team loses they are going away for life....like take it down a notch its only a GAME.
I don't know, but these same people will be complaining about something next week that im sure they could easily deal with if they put forth that same effort, just saying is all.

People can always put effort, but if they have the intelligence of a bag of grapes then its pretty much pointless.

not one to sit on my ass and watch sports, i would rather just go to the intrawebs and look up the final score, you get NOTHING from yelling at the tv, its not like they will run faster, or get more TD's from that. That aside...
actually no thats it lol, don't get me wrong, i love to PLAY the sports, just not to watch, to me this is the equivalent of doing the WII sports, or owning a 3DTV.
if you really want to play a sport, go to the park, if you want to watch the most amazing 3D shit EVER, go stare at anything in the real world.
/rant
that aside i watch the super bowl for the ads, could give two shits who wins or loses, i aint gonne stop eating cus some overpaid asshole wasn't able to run 10 yards to save his career.
You act like playing professional American football is so easy... I didn't see you on the tv when the game was on. Overpaid? Depends on the entertainer, but most are.

Football is pretty easy compared to what i used to do, but then again i never go praised, or none of us ended up on TV for risking our lives in some stupid scenario that you only see in the movies... under paid and overworked, that's the life of a Marine. I was just speaking from my point of view, they have been called national heroes, and are praised up and down while i have seen one of my friends bleeding and had to carry another one's body back to safety but you never hear about that on TV, fuck running 10 yards, and scoring a touchdown for thousands of dollars i would rather carry a live grenade and toss it through a window to save some lives. and yes i have played football, i played for my battalion, we took the west coast title and even got a chance to play with some of the Pro's that support the USO. But yea you're right we were nothing against someone who does this day in and day out, as a trade off tho, they came with us and did a day's work at what we did and only the running back was able to keep up. Coincidentally one of them ended up leaving the NFL and joined the Corps, now that's a man. I agree, what military personnel do is inherently more "hero" worthy than what professional football players do. However, to infer that anyone that isn't part of a military organization shouldn't be a hero is a bit much.Last edited by Tnwagn; 01-25-2011, 09:29 AM.

I'm not saying that if someone ain't in the military they ain't heroes, of course there's cops (the ones that do their job) emt/paramedic/nurses... But a football player? In that case lets give tiger woods a platinum record, cus that'd how much Sense it makes to me lolOriginally posted by scudweiserit will go vrooooooom bauggggghhhh mmmmmmaauuugggg. Marines are not the only ones that should be called heroes, how about a local man saving a drowning baby or a 5 year old boy calling the cops after witnessing a fatal collision. They may not be as extreme as going to war but their level of heroism is still considered. Heck even rapper T.I was called a hero with the suicide guy incident.
There are those who see members of the armed forces heroes regardless of how they come home. I hope you and the ones you refer to see it that way. There may be some batch apples in the batch but you shouldn't group us/me with them. I've worked at the Defense Contract Management Agency of Boston, I'm sure you know what that entails. I can't comment on the money aspect but I do know that most people I know that join don't put salary as their primary factor.

i know the word hero has different meanings to everyone, it just "grinds my gears" that these people have not saved a life or done anything to warrant this title. but trust me someone, whom regardless of job or anything puts their own life on the line to save another is by any means a hero! there is that little girl who ran to the fire house after her dad suffered a cardiac arrest, she is most def a hero none the less, needless to say im not saying that someone who has not deployed, or fought for the country is not a hero, if anyone has the balls to disregard their safety and well being so that someone else gets to wake up one more day is a hero.
Wasn't there a dog who pulled his owner from the house after a fire or something like that too?Originally posted by scudweiserit will go vrooooooom bauggggghhhh mmmmmmaauuugggg. I fully understand the RIAA record certifications and do realize the Tiger Woods is in no way a recording artist.
You have a very narrow opinion of what a hero is, which is fine, as it is your opinion. However, to tell someone that someone they consider a hero is in your eyes nothing more than another average man is a bit much. I'd liken it to telling someone of a different faith that their god isn't real.
