ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Automatic Transmission

1990 Automatic Transmission with roughly 85,000 miles

My passenger side CV Axle goes out the other day so I replace it. A day later my transmission will rev up and struggle to shift. I need to release the gas peddle let the RPMs go down and it will shift. I have noticed if I don't gas it and drive slowly from 1st-3rd it will shift ok, but anytime I put a little bit into it, RPMs raise quickly and will not want to shift. My Shift/D4 light is NOT blinking. After testing and checking the list below I am still having issues. What are your thoughts?

    The things I have tested/checked
    • Jumped blue pin: Checked for codes, but nothing comes up
    • Fuses: No fuses were blown
    • Transmission fluid: The fluid was perfect level, clear red, smelled good
    • TCM: I opened it and noticed resistor R41 burnt. I had R41, R42 and C28 replaced
    • Shift solenoids: working condition
    • Speed sensor: had an extra NEW one so I replaced
    • CV Axle: Wanted to make sure it was all the way in and it was

I thought it would be smart to drain the transmission fluid so I did. When it was draining it was very black and a couple little chunks came out, I tried taking some photos. Do you think I should fill it up with some HONDA transmission fluid and see how it shifts, or do you think the damage it already done? I also have taken out my passenger side CV Axle to make sure it was in correct. I inspected inside the tranny where the CV Axle slides in, looks good to me. Anyone else see anything out of wack there?

I'm a little confused, first you indicate the fluid was clear red (I'm assuming on the dipstick), but when you drained it, you say it was black (sure doesn't look good in that photo).

If you only drained and filled it once, you only changed about 42% of the fluid. You would need to drain and refill two more times (with a little driving in between) to have about 80% new fluid. Use Honda fluid. Do you know if you had Honda fluid in it to begin with?

Yes clear red fluid on the dipstick, I did drain it 2 times and drove in between, so I believe I got all the old oil out. I did NOT use Honda Transmission oil, as I didn't know that years back, but I did refill with Honda Transmission oil now. It was still slipping so I ended up taking the transmission out and swapping it with an old one I had.

2 drain and refills gets you about 66% new fluid.

        The new tranny work OK?
