We did a super quick and shitty job with the paint, as you can see we didn't even fix the body damage

It took me and my teammate about the whole weekend. So 8 hours a day x2 of us, probably 32 hours.

For the paint, we used a quart of decent single-stage acyrlic enamel
    http://www.tcpglobal.com/RSPAE2902-K...l#.VXdTBs9VhBc

That was $60 and we used this for the white
    http://www.pepboys.com/product/details/9624643/00810
$25 and a quart of this in clear $25

and some primer we had paying around

So $110 in paint + masking tape, paper, mixing sticks/strainers, etc

If you buy some cheap primer, figure $150 for everything

But most of the paintjob is about the prep, so if you want it to look good, figure at least spending three times that amount of time in sanding and fixing dents and cleaning.

Plus I shot it outside and there's tons of bugs and dirt in the paint. You'll want to rent a paint booth or build your own.

I was admiring it. I like the colors too, oddly enough. Never thought of those two colors together much less on a CB7.

That's really neat how you did it on the cheap. Imo it looks pretty good! Definitely good enough for a racecar.

That's funny because when ever I seen your thread here originally I had a similar idea if I were ever to build a CB7 for the track.

Not that I like Spoon or whatever they even do (I really don't know) I just love that paint scheme.

Nice! You should totally do it

Actually my favourite Honda livery has always been Realtime racing

But the Takata thing is our joke Lemons theme

Race was last weekend and I'm happy to say we finished but not without a lot of incidents! The car did great, the drivers as much

There were 112 cars in the race and we got 60th place. Just about in the middle.
There are 3 classes, A/B/C. A is for BMW 3-seiries, Miatas, etc. B is for Accords, Escorts, Jettas, etc. C is for Ramblers, Pruises, 20 hp Fiats, etc
Since an Accord is not a vaunted sports car we got classified in class B with 0 penalty laps.

I have been busting ass working on the car almost non stop for 2 weeks. All weekend, 12 hours a day and every night after work for hours. Finally got it finished and ready Friday night at the track with last minute stuff. Installing radios, gopros, roll bar padding, etc

Friday we teched the car and they busted our balls about the H&R springs and Bilstein shocks, but still gave us class B

Right now it's a F22A1 with 250k miles, an Ebay header, PT6 ECU, F22A6 intake, test pipe and cherry bomb.

Suspension is H&R race, Bilstein shocks, stock front bar with urethane bushings and 16mm CL rear bar with urethane bushings. 3.5 degrees camber up front with Civic adjustable ebay control arms and 0 and 1 degree in the rear. 15x8 XXR +20 wheels and 225/45-15 Hankook RS3s.

                Here's me happy after tech

                and the team

First day was Saturday with 9 hours of racing.

                Ready to race!

We drive in 1.5 hour stints in the car, my friend went first and got a black flag, and I went second and got another black flag when I went into the dirt trying to avoid a car that suddenly and unexpectedly braked in front of me in a 100 mph corner
My punishment was being strapped to the roof and driven aroudn the pits telling everyone how horrible I am

another team got the same penalty lol

My Dad went out next and spun off track when another car spun in front of him. HE went in the dirt and so much dirt got thrown up in the engine bay that it got into the timing belt and slipping timing at least 40 degrees or so
Luckily we were able to re-time the cam and the valves were fine! I couldnt' believe it.

Unfortuneatly the NEXT stint, nearing the end of Saturday, my brother go into a wreck with an E30 BMW and t-boned him and went off track.
                Car got smashed

                Wheel broke and tire holed

That ended Saturday racing, so we got to work on the car. The hood and bumper were smashed, the radiator cracked, the suspension bent and a wheel broke.
We pulled out the body damage and got a new radiator from O-Reilly. Another team (Pussy Wagon) we happening to give away 6 wheels and tires with 4x114.3 bolt patten! Good tires too! Amazing luck
So we fixed it that night but the car wouldnt start.
It turns out MORE dirt got in the cam belt and it slipped again. We retimed it and the valves were still fine. Amazing!
We went back on track Sunday. We took it way easier on Sunday and had no crashes or black flags the rest of the weekend.

Halfway through the day, the muffler fell off. Here's the video..
                https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9G2qXtUo50

My dad is an awesome welder, so we borrowed another team's welder and cut up a spare muffler I brought and made it a side-exit straight-pipe.

And we went out back again.

I was up next and here's some video of that run. Skip to 3:17 to see the smoke show. That was scary as fuck driving totally blind at high speed
                https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ErM46I7Epfg

Then we finished 60th place! 19th in Class B and our top lap time was a 2:15.230, 25th fastest overall and FASTEST CLASS B CAR wooo! I set that time on the 68th lap.

The winner here was the BLowes Eclipse with 349 laps. The 2nd place team was a tubro Miata (Eyesore racing) with 349 lapos completed but 3 minutes and 3 seconds behind BLowes. (We had 232 laps completed)
Lots of cars needed to be pushed off track at the end lol

Then on the drive home up the Grapevine, my trucks alternator died. Brand new alternator from Pep Boys I might add..... I limped it to O'Reielly and swapped a new one in the parking lot.

Then I got home tired as fuck and my teammate Benino helped me unload.

Great adventure and great fun. I hope to do another race this year. The CB7 is fast as hell and when I put a F22A6 cam and a few more things I hope to be a bit faster

Very impressive for what is almost a stock F22A. Sounds like you had a lot of fun.

aventari, ah man... I hate to see it smashed up like that.

But, it's cool as hell to see you guys get it driveable again then take it out and thrash on it some more.

That looked like so much fun! Thanks for sharing the videos and pictures. I was laughing my ass off at all the car designs. One looked like an f-14 and another a shark. Did the track make you do that penalty of being strapped to the roof? If so that sounds like a fun day!

How'd those Civic UCA's hold up? No issues? How was tire wear with whatever camber you decided on?

                              Thunderhill?

Are y'all going to make it to Thunderhill in September? I know it's a long shot with all that damage you took, but we'll be there in our 1991 Accord. It'd be extra fun to have two F22A1 CB7 Accords out there at the same time.

Yeah was lots of fun, the judges gave me the penalty of being strapped to the roof before I went off into the dirt and you're not allowed to go off track

bro was fine, that's what the safety equipment is for, 5 point harness, HANS device, roll cage, etc. That stuff really works!

Civic UCAs worked awesome, I'm glad I welded the ball joints to the arms though because those little bolts that came with it were super sketchy

The tire wear was really good and handling was awesome. 3.5 degrees front camber and 1.5 rear.

The only problem is after my brother's crash, the alignment is fucked. I'm not sure if something is bent somewhere.. gotta take it to the frame shop this week.
