ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    New lighting setup help wanted.

Hry all. I'm interested in purchasing and installing Morimotos' LED retrofit set to put into my low beam bowls, but when it comes to the high beam bowls, could I use them to house typical, non projector DRL bulbs in them instead? They'll be wired to their own switch, likely an automatic light sensor.

I'm concerned about blinding people during the day, so are there any DRL specific bulbs I can toss in there? Advice would be appreciated.

Bulbs are bulbs. As long as you aren't running 65+ watt bulbs for DRLs, you won't blind anyone in broad daylight.

I'm assuming you're running bi-xenon (LED in your case) projectors in the low beam housing?

Yep, not going to run high powered bulbs in the high beam bowls for that reason. Just wasn't sure if there was a specific wattage or bulb that people were running for this purpose already. I'm looking for a bulb that'll fit in the OEM socket so I don't have to tear or drill into it.

And yes, the LED projectors will be run in the low beam housing, or so far is the plan. I'm waiting to replace some other parts before I buy the lighting kit and go through with it. Maybe this is more suited as a members' ride thread?

      And congrats!

You could run the OEM high beam bulb and a resistor in line...I have actually have some 4 and 2 ohm 50W resistors laying around if you want to see the brightness difference. I could also just do the math, but seeing is believing in this case.

The OEM bulb is about 3-4 ohms IIRC. A 4 ohm resistor would cut the bulbs power in half and a 2 ohm resistor would cause the bulb to see 75% power.

Just got the Morimoto H1 HID conversion kit with the 35W ballast setup for myself and plan on running that inside the JDM one piece headlight when the parking lights come on. A buddy of mine told me that setup will resemble the looks of a type R.
          If it ain't a type R it ain't a tight car...

I think you can get an OEM DRL module from a newer car. That will do the trick
