    G22 what do u think

alright b4 you say research I have done alot of it on this site and honda-tech. I think the G22 is a good idea if you don't have the money for to buy a h22 and but it in ($1000 at least). My G22 is going to be N/A so I wanted to get some more compression since I heard just putting on a h22 head on a f22a will only get me about 9:1. I wanted to mild the head and get a 1 layer head gasket. I heard of some ppl decking the block but I'm not taking out the whole motor this is why I chose to go this route. As far as the rest of the build I use the
    f23a head gasket..
    h23 timing belt
    h23 lower timing gear
    h23 water pump
    f22a water pipe is retained
let me know if this sounds right. I know I have to block off some holes on the block can you let me know about that. I'm try to get a jdm h22 type S because I know the cams are better then the h22a4 all comments welcome.

truely not worth it unless it's planned to be a FULL build. trust me. you'd b better off doin a jdm f22b head or an h23 wit a milled head and it'll b much simpler

it's not like the f22 block is gonna withstand/make actual power till 8k+ by just slapping on a VTEC head...

ps. that list of parts is WAY off

H22 head on a f22 will lower your compression to roughly 8.5:1 because the combustion chamber volume is greater than f22 head. this is why people boost hybrids. whoever told you this is wrong.

your parts list is also wrong. i believe its supposed to be h22 timing belt, and f22 water pump with h22 water pump gear. the hard water pipe will have to half and half f22 at timing side and h22 at dizzy side to compensate the thermostat housing. i also think its supposed to be h22 lower timing gear, someone please chime in on this (carlos).

Why isnt it worth it? the f22b/f20a/h23 head is the same thing, you still have to get all the same parts just from diff engines. the only diff is that the cr will drop with h22 head and the cr will stay same with the dohc heads. milling it wont raise cr that high, maybe .1 if that. so it would still be a low comp engine. at least with the h22 head he will have the greater head flow, but like i stated the first time its better if its boosted.

power in stock form will be less than the normal h23 and f22b because the compression is lower. it might be a lil more torquey and thats about it.

really though, its all preference, you really have to have to knowledge and read up a bit on these hybrids. if you dont you are just gonna have issues down the line.

I see your point everybody that has the G22 has boosted the engine so I guess I should stick with what's been researched. I don't want problems down the line. So with the H23 head on my f22a block I will have less probs and its lets work?

the normal dohc head from f22b or f20a is easiest, because its direct fit using the stock f22ax headgasket. the h23 is a lil more involved not much more. and the h22 is more involved, just because the water pipe, vtec wiring, and water pump gear.

I will probably get the h23 instead because it's easier to get. With the h23 head my compression won't drop and it's better for an N/A set up compared to the h22 head which people usually use for a turbo hybrid setup is that right?

ur compression would stay stock, 8.8:1, which is low to begin with.

Did you see last issue of import tuner?

If I were going to build a G-motor I would do exactly or close to what that guy threw in his civic. He basically did a F23 bottom and H22a head and threw in some K-series pistons. (which dropped in) and came up with a K24 killer in the end. Of course he put in some more parts like aftermarket high compression K-pistons and level 3 camshafts + itbs, but with regular off the shelf parts it will still be a potent K contender.

those pistons work in f22's as well, since they are 86mm and 86 is service limit for f22. all you do is bore the f22 to 86mm and the pistons would drop in. the wrist pin diams are the same. the only thing im not sure of is actual piston height itself and where the pin is located compared to F/H.

that sounds good if you want to do a build and have another car to drive. THis is my DD and my only car. Doing a head swap would take 2 days the most if I ran into probs maybe 3. Doing a build would take twice the money and time. I think I'm just gonna get a h23 intake mani bore it out and get a good camshaft hit up MRX to tune a po6 and chill. It's not big power but I will feel a difference and leave more money in my pocket with less headache. When I really have the money I will go hard.

true and it's less work. Do you guys think it's still worth it to use the h23 head?
I have a f22a4 now? or should I just get a bisimoto stage 2 cam the h23 intake manifold and get a po6 and get it tuned. I don't want to spend over $500 so I guess that's the best route.
