trunk lid shaved

dose anyone have a picture of a trunk lid shaved. Not the whole thing just the gap that goes around between the plastic plate holder and the metal on a 92 93 accord? Do you think it will look good?

I do.... altho, no one has ever really noticed - I got that, my antenna and the little lines by the filler panel shaved

ive always wanted to do the same, ive photoshopped it a bunch of times... just never had the money to get the whole lid repainted. im getting my car painted soon so im going to shave the lines (including the sides of the filler panels) before i do.... and i thought i was one of the only people to have even considered this, i guess accordzoom wins. looks great, makes me want to do it even more now. did you do it yourself, or have it done? if you did it i too want to know, just body filler?

Im doing it tommorow if he post how it was done. I already shaved my emblem today and fixed a few dents

If you fill the gaps, dont fill it with body filler(bondo)-it will crack soon after you do it-I know from experience. Also dont think fiberglass filler will work either, it wont, again from experience. I have some older pics of the cracks if you dont beleive...

Try using some stuff from 3M-epoxy weld or liquid weld....cant remember the name, but any body-shop store should carry it and give you advice on the right stuff, but its pretty expensive. Also dont forget to seal up the lid, if water gets behind it'll try to push through where the gaps where once where, and eventually crack through(shouldnt happen with the epoxy, but it will happen with bondo-again from experience).

But other than that its really a simple project that most could accomplish.

I have a piece of metal welded in there that's the exact size of the plastic piece that orignally went there.


As for the plastic lines you're talking about, don't know what to tell you.

thats pretty pimp. i shaved mine but never repaited it, gonna get a paintjob hopefully on monday to prepare for the norcal meet, w00t.

I actually had it done, and then went overseas for 4 months without painiting and the weather got in over the winter seasons while i was gone. Even though the guy that shaved it for me was a professional and i saw much proof in his work .. he was in his mid 30's and only him and his father worked in the shop, did all the work himself, he warned me if i dont get it painted soon after it will crack, and well it did, only on the line goin under the trunk , but im gonna blame it on the paint shop and see what they say.
we shall see, i have a 4 yr warranty and just got it done, so around next sumr when i come back from overseas again.

Ahhh seeing pictures of the OEM trunk lids kinda makes me wanna go back to an OEM trunk lid with the plate holder.

I might just throw my shaved lid in the shed after we spray the car white, and then get a 4 door lid again and just put my red/clears in that.

I kinda miss it.. but then I like the shaved look. Confusion sucks balls!
