THE HISTORY OF CB7...the humble beginnings

i was just pondering to myself this and kinda wanna hear from the the vets, might as well have a format or somthing:

    WHEN U JOINED:

    WHY U JOINED:

WHAT WAS IT LIKE BACK THEN:

    MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT:

Also not to set rules, but mostly like 1yr and up, sorta like a documentary of the site(i'm even coming back here on my anniversary and updating mine) Dont want some who joined yesterday and want to write an essay for a weeks worth

    i guess i'll start:

well kinda obvious, but follow along, actually back in 05 but i forgot my SN(it was somthing like the one i have now)

was looking at diff sites for diff cars and everyone has one, even that silly tiburon, but i've always liked cb7's due to their diff from other accords

U KNOW I CANT ANSWER THIS

damn, theres alot, prolly one that sticks out was when this thread was started about really controversal shit and it got outta hand, but doctor cipher came in there w/a line and i fell over laughin(then deev closed it)

      Good idea for a thread
I didn't start this forum. I took it over from accordtunerx about a year ago... so I have my own stories

WHEN U JOINED: I joined in August 2003. I was like the 50th member to sign up.

WHY U JOINED: I joined because a guy I was talking to on AIM told me about it. He now has an EVO. I forget his name on here... it was fairly generic.

WHAT WAS IT LIKE BACK THEN: Back then, it was so small... just a small group of guys talking about their cars. Anyone with an H22 was automatically respected. Rotas were the wheel to have. Hardly anyone was turbo'd. JDM was something quirky, not a full-blown style. The best part... everything was new! cpmike's LED dashboard was fascinating. The first DSM turbo kit was like a Nintendo64 under the Christmas tree. 5 lug conversions were something we dreamed about, not something we did. The forums were small. The classified section was just one forum. Beginner Forums never existed. AoM wasn't even thought of. ECU tuning was something only the pros did. We considered ourselves a small, insignificant forum. Now, you can go on ANY Honda forum, ask a question about a CB7, and someone on there will link you here. We exist. We are a part of the Honda community.

MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT: When xplode leaked it to me that I was to be made a mod... or when I accepted ownership of the board (using my old p166 laptop, because my computer was on the fritz). Or my first and second meets... made a lot of friends those days... most of whom I still talk to (hell, I talked to 5 of them today alone!) Or when I totally flipped out on the board and inspired everyone to donate to keep Steve from going to a yearly subscription plan instead of free registration (and it worked those that have donated, those that have "contributing member" under their names, are the ones that have kept this forum free for everyone else! Appreciate them!)

        WHEN U JOINED: september 2003

WHY U JOINED: i had been very active on other forums previously, and when somebody told me of this new "cb7tuner" site that just popped up, i figured it was one of those stupid websites that will never have more than 5 members and never get off the ground. a month later i was linked to a thread on here and found that it had picked up a bit, so i joined.

WHAT WAS IT LIKE BACK THEN: everything was fresh. like deev said, the cb7 chassis was hardly known, "jdm" was just a thing where people go "what the hell is that? whered that come from?" to. it was a pretty tight-nit group of people working together, learning as much about the chassis as possible...

MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT: to be honest, meeting steve at a meet. he was the elusive ATX, and i got a chance to meet him at the big official meet (which was 7 cars)... being friends with him got me sucked into being closely involved with this forum and i basically stopped visiting accordtuner (which i was nearly a moderator on) and hung around here more. and here i still am...

          WHEN U JOINED: Feb 2004

WHY U JOINED: Because I once owned a 90 Accord, and though other Honda boards were ok, This site was speciffic to "MY" car, and I wanted to learn all I could about it.

WHAT WAS IT LIKE BACK THEN: Altezza hating was the big thing, Then F&F came along and it was time to bash on it for a while. Then I kinda vanished for a while. But when I came back, things had changed alot. The "ricers" had washed away and the true tuners remained and the learnng process could resume.

MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT: None really. For me it's just been a normal message board, just about the cars I love. I don't really know anyone here. Never met anyone. Prob never will since I think most the members are from out west.
          !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously? Man, back in the day, this was damn near an East Coast Only board! I still feel that the East Coast population is quite large... I can rally a 20 car meet quite easily.

And Mike, that 7 car meet WAS extremely influential. Meeting you, Steve, Mauricio, and Carlos really had a powerful effect...

                WHEN U JOINED: July 2004

WHY U JOINED: I was an owner of a 1991 Accord Wagon (R.I.P.) and I hated it. Didnt appeal to me at all. I thought our cars were boxy and had no future in being able to go fast. I was looking for something on-line and came across accordtuner.com and joined. Thats where i began to unederstand that our cars are something. I found cb7Tuner through a link. Slowly I started visiting here more and more and eventually became a member. It was a great site dedicated to only the cb7 and its where i grew my appreciation for our cars and realized that they are a lot more than just family cars.

WHAT WAS IT LIKE BACK THEN: JDM was slowly emerging. It was slowly phasing out the "cool" altezzas. Mugen lip was the thing to have on your front end and i had one too. H22 was the only reasonable swap at the time if you could afford it. I remember very well following the thread that eric build for the first home made turbo set-up - good times.

MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT: My first and second meet. First time i met Deev, Klevis, and Jose and few other guys. I was the only guy that rolled in in a wagon and was thinking that i wouldn't fit in because ... well it most almost stock wagon. Ended up making good friends and people loved the car especially bc it was a 5spd wagon Second meet was awsome too. Met ATX, Eric and many more cool members. The journey to the CT meet and getting lost on our way there was a classic

                  WHEN U JOINED: sept 2004

WHY U JOINED: Because I was looking for parts for my car in an architecture class, saw a link to here, saw eric's blue turbo'd coupe and was like wow, thats my car with some stuff
WHAT WAS IT LIKE BACK THEN: small still, i dont remember it really picking up till just after micksf22accord joined. i learned a lot in my first year here.

MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT: the 4/16 farmington meet in CT. got ATX and pwrusr to come from MD. deev was there, the bx crew, eric and val, and that was the first time i realized i was pretty good friends with ben and mark (williamsvt)(accord22). i think back in the day before aero, mrx, and hondafan were mods i met every mod but elliot. it was a really eastern based group.

                    When U joined: July 2005

Why U joined: I was looking for a great source to help me with my Auto to 5spd swap and to find other 4th Gen accord lovers.

What it was like: It was pretty helpful and actually cp[mike] was the first person who I talked to. I had a few people telling me to search for things even though I was new to the site.

Most Memorable Moment: Going to my first meet in the freezing cold in Atlanta w/ TypeG, bjaccord, jspech22acclude, Minze, k-mart, dekeda(hope i spelled it right man) and H23Accord. After the meet and finally got home, I still couldnt feel my fingers.

                      WHEN U JOINED: July 04

WHY U JOINED: Good question. I didn't even care about my CB7 when I joined. I think I joined from H-S to browse about H22 install and such. Then the car broke and sat for 6 months and I never drove an Accord. A little different now.

WHAT WAS IT LIKE BACK THEN: The board seemed slower and there was a few people that knew what they were talking about. Now there are a lot of knowledgeable people and there are always 40+ members on the board at any given time.

MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT: The spring 06 East Coast meet. The funniest part was me and Lester [cokinut] caravaning from Richmond City at 5am and then hanging outside Patrick's [Acclude91's] house in Mechanicsville. We woke all of them up and Mike and Patrick came and chilled, I for the life of me can't remember the other dudes name and that sucks, but we all had to wait for Justin [DoctorCipher] to blow-dry and style his hair. That was just hilarious. The coolest moment was 4th gear runs down I-85 between me and Mike on the way to NC. Then the rain sucked ass and Pat almost died because he doesn't have a defrost. I miss that day.

                        WHEN U JOINED: July 2005

WHY U JOINED: I first started out on this lonely Honda forum....that's where I met d112crzy...he showed me this board and I never looked back.

WHAT WAS IT LIKE BACK THEN: At this time this place was pretty big. It was kinda funny cause I was always looking at cb7's on cardomain and when I came to this site I notice ALOT of cars from there on this site. This place was very helpful with all the little things I needed help with.

MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT: For me atleast was when I finally got my H put in and got my vtec working. Even though I still have cel lights and that I'm only able to shift at 6500 at the moment. I'm still happy and I'm still progressing.

Yeah, MATT! I'm horrible with names.

But yea, I still can't believe you came all the way from NYC to go to a meet in Asheboro, NC. Awesome fun times. And yea, I-85 is scary desolate most of the time. Makes great workings for gettin' in trouble.
