Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

i got components in the rear deck of my 93 lx and what your friend might be talking about is how far down the magnent falls into the trunk, cuz it could interfere with the trunk lid brace. My audiobahn's baskets hit so i made a spacer out of MDF and lifted them till they fit. only bad thing was i cant put the stock grilels back on but it doesnt bother me.

soundstream
hey dude
i got some 85 watt RMS soundstream speakers in the back of mine under the speaker covers and they went in in about 2 minutes flat. By 'too tall' you mate means how deep the speaker is, that is, from the bottom of the magnet to the tip of the actual speaker. In this case, how deep the magnet is doesnt matter because it will just hang into boot space anyways. Just thread the new speaker cable in and screw them into the holder. They fit because you dont need to put the spider bit on top, if you get that in the states. Down under we get an extra spider cover thingo and as long as you leave that off you should be fine. It wont make any difference anyways coz you wont be able to see them under the cover. Hope this helps.

I had a problem with my 6x9s hitting the lil bar in the trunk..so i got my dremel and cut off just a small piece of the bar where it was hitting..didnt hurt anything and the speakers now fit like OEM

You should not have any problems with 6.5'' in the rear deck, as far as hitting the trunk helper spring thingy. With my old set of speakers the tweeter stuck out too much, so I cut the plastic support out in the middle and the speaker stretched the fabric to fit, and stayed stealth.Gary A.K.A. Carter

ok first off... charts dont mean jack when it comes to installing speakers. its all based on the cars. it may say it fits 6.5" speakers. buuut that doesnt tell you mounting depth, how high a tweet may sit above the speaker. sometimes 6.5" speakers arent even true 6.5" speakers.
my recommendation is to just get speakers you know will fit. if your looking for quality sound, but not high end, get some alpine type s, or some pioneers... they are relatively cheap and ok sounding.
but in answer to ur question, those r good speakers.. i prefer alpine myself.
dont think im tryin to flame u, but i deal with this type of stuff all day at work, and my first instinct is to just put what fits unless ur able to make it fit and not look like crap.

X2...its a lot easier and more subtle to get direct fit speakers.Originally posted by UrDoneSRHmy recommendation is to just get speakers you know will fit.
I've put in Clarion Pro-Audio speakers 6.5"...the woofers will fit right in... no issues with clearance....they are clean sounding
