ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.
2 of 2 < >

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

How to use the SEARCH button effectively

I have found this search method to be the most effective in locating a thread and
filtering out those other garbage threads that are not even close to what you are looking for.

    - First of hit the "SEARCH" button at the top right corner of the screen.
    - Once the box opens up, click on "ADVANCE SEARCH"

    - Now under the keywords section hit the drop down list to "SEARCH TITLES ONLY"
    - Then proceed to add any keywords, for example, searching for LIPS (ground effect looks), i put in "lip faq"

    - This will be your results compared to the last image.

    - This last image is the result of just using the search button as shown in PIC 1 without going to the "ADVANCE SEARCH" section.

should be a sticky if people agree

Why would anyone want to search for shit when they can be lazy and just start a new thread?

also helps to use key words. leave out words like ''the'', ''and'', and so on. later.

Very nice. I'll add it to one of the existing sticky indexes. The fewer stickies we have, the more likely they'll get read!

Sadly, the people that need to read this most probably won't bother... but at least it'll be something that members can link to. This thread would be much better than a general "search!" response, at least (I still don't encourage that... as it results in useless searches)

I just unstuck this thread, and a few others, in an attempt to make our sticky library a bit smaller. I added it to my "useful links" thread, which can now be accessed via konigstiger's ultimate beginner's index.

I'll do some more cleaning up later. It'll be a lot easier to have fewer stickies... as those that are there will actually be read!

Nobody searches, it's the nature of forums.

"Short ram vs. Cold air intake..."
"My idle is surging up and down..."

and so on, they are covered at least two or three times a week. Why? Because people don't like to search or read stickies.

Hell, the idle surge is covered in the Beginner stickies!

A lot of it is also people trying to get their post count up. I always say "I'd rather have 30,000 threads about 'what engine can i put in my car?' that are answered correctly, then 5 threads that say 'search'"... and that is often taken to mean "I want to see lots and lots of threads on the same topic!"

                    Oh so very true.

Over on the Second Skin forum we have a thousand "How much sound deadening do I need for my "insert year/make/model"?", but all of them are answered well so it doesn't bother me.

It's not bad to have the same question asked over and over... and answered correctly every time... as when people DO search, they have plenty of info to read! Sometimes the first one or two threads don't make sense to them, but the third might be quite clear.

But I'd MUCH rather help someone who asks something like "how do I change my headlight bulbs? I searched and found this ***link*** but I didn't fully understand the part about *******"
Than someone that says "I didn't search, but how do I change my headlight bulbs?" Same question... but I'd be MUCH more inclined to help bachelor #1.

Deev. why don't you set the begginers to work like the classifieds??? we all have to read the rules to get the password, just a suggestion.

You probably tough of it too.

I've always thought it'd be good if there was some way you can make it so new users can't get any farther than the main log on page until they read and fully understand the rules. Just my .02
