Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    Blocking off fuel return

    I just bought a 93 auto sedan today. The previous owner attempted to replace the fuel pump only to damage the return line on top of tank, so when started it spews fuel out on the ground. I was able to tow it to a nearby friends place but I need to get it about 10miles to my house to drop the tank and repair the line. Question is, would it be possible to cap off the return line at the rail just long enough to drive the short distance?

    not really... the fuel system needs a constant flow through the fuel rail, to make sure fuel is available to each cylinder. It does this by over-filling the rail to its pressure limit, and the excess gets returned back to the tank. If you capped off the return, something would burst from the pressure...

      The regulated pressure is in the 35-40 psi range. Based on a brief test I did once to see if the pump could develop reasonable pressure, a blocked line results in the pressure going up to about 60 psi. The pump is essentially a centrifugal pump, not positive displacement (like a piston, gear, vane, or gerotor), so the pressure won't go sky high. Keep in mind that the injector timing the ECM calculates is based on the regulated pressure.

      I'm not sure of the capacity of the pump, but I suppose if you felt sporty, you could route the return line to a gas can (although that would need to be vented). If it gets too full, stop and pour it back into the tank.

        lol, just take a hose and run it from the return to the gas inlet on the side of the car :P Technically it should work.
