    Antenna Remove and replace problem

    Well I almost got it removed all the parts... But one. The antenna at the bottom has a locking sleeve that keeps it from pushing the innards out. Well that is still left behind from the old one in the shaft after the antenna motor. So the new one wont go in. I need to remove the old sleeve. Any help?

    Figured I'd post pictures. I'll help you, help me.

    This is the whole thing;

    This is the part that I think is stuck;

    This is the antenna shaft and the stuck part;

    Oops Sorry about the giant pictures.

      that thing is a pain in the ass

      No a stuck bolt remover won't get it out because its technically a nut

      Op that little silver topper ( shown below in gold ) did not come off like that did it? I bet the top broke apart from the threads didn't it?'

      Also that is a cheap shitty ebay power antenna mast and you will not be happy with it. I bought one and had aton of trouble getting it in. That sleeve you pointed out is different on an OEM antenna mast. I'd return that and get an OEM honda mast

        So I guess I found my problem... Paul helped me remove it and he twisted off the top part of the bolt. Maybe I'll have to check out a walk through and see what parts I have that I should be missing.

        I did have a Honda antenna bolt in there it was just corroded. And I think that is the other layer of metal in there. Because the top came off but not the stem.

        Well I got the locking tube out.

        And then this happened;

        So Any idea where I can get a new antenna shaft?

              Unfortunately, you won't be able to get just that outer sleeve from Honda; you can only get a replacement mast or the whole assembly. I used to rebuild these, but couldn't make much of a profit. Corrosion and failure of that tube was pretty typical. I used to buy every antenna I could pull from junkyards for spare parts. I bought masts from Bridgewood Motorsports, never had an issue. The key is to not just attempt to replace the mast; I always took the opportunity to disassemble the whole thing, clean it out, and relubricate it when assembling. The power antennas still work on all four of my Accords.

                          Contrary to my previous post in this thread, Honda does now offer the aluminum tube that is shown broken off earlier in this thread, approximately $27 through Majestic. The trick is getting the bottom of the tube out of the motor housing. I've used a 7/8 spade bit to get it to rotate, then spin it out (take your time).

                            The main aluminum tube or the short 3-inch bit with the clip were not my problem. My problem was getting the plastic ribbon back inside it the housing. I guess with the way it wants to naturally curve, mine didn't want to go back in the hole no matter how I twisted or how much pressure I used.

                            I ended up using a length of tubing to put down in the housing to limit how much the ribbon could curve and keep itself from going in the hole. Once I got it to feed through, I just pulled the length of hose out and sliced it down the middle to take it off.

                              Well, not available from Honda anymore, but the aluminum tube is available from Bridgewood Motorsports:
