    Straight Success H22 Swap Journal.

I'm I've created a new thread to document everything.

    Start-Up Video. Page 13.

A little background on the situation. I bought my CB two years ago, and began building it into a vision I had some years back. The car was taken care of, but had small engine problems. I got tired of nickle and dimeing, and decided to let the motor die on it's own. The timing belt finally snapped on 11/26/2012, and it just so perfectly happened around the corner from my residence. How convenient? It's currently sitting through the winter awaiting a new heart transplant.

As of this moment, I'm hunting down parts and prices getting ready to order the rest of the stuff needed for the swap. I plan on fully building it in the near future, but for now, this thread will only contain the swap information.

I am doing the same. I plan to do my swap this weekend.

I know everybody recommends obd1 accessories but if the motor comes with all of them you can use the obd2 stuff.
I soldered my dizzy and plan to solder the injector connectors to. but there is a company called RYWIRE that sells harness adapters for Dizzy, injectors, alt. Quite a bit. I didn't use them but they seem convenient.

Most likely if your JDM H22 won't come with a vtec oil pressure sensor. From the pics and research I've done most of them don't. So you will need to pick one up. Any vtec motor honda should have one. Also ronald r and mr phil have a thread on here about using the prelude map sensor. To me this will eliminate vacuum leaks the only lines should be for the IAB and FPR, and cruise. I think.

I will document all the stuff in the thread I have.
Where did you get the motor?
Got mine from a semi local guy who bought it from JDM engine depot in TX.

The owner of a salvage yard that help sponsor my engineering senior design project had it sitting. It should be coming home Wednesday, but before it does, I want to have it compression tested.

Okay. After careful consideration and reading, I found that the JDM H22A doesn't have a place to mount the external coil. With that said, I'm going to bite the bullet, convert to an internal coil, and try to clean it up.

As of today, I am the proud owner of a JDM H22A. It took me a long time to acquire this thing, but it's mine now. The motor itself is pretty clean, and when I cracked open the oil cap, the internals looked good. It has one or two broken sensors, and the map sensor is thrashed also.

Now the process begins with the preventative maintenance. I will post pictures tomorrow as I had to store it in my aunt and uncle's garage until I can get people to help me put it somewhere. In the interim, I'll be collecting the parts that I need for it.

Questions: Can I use the Accord half shaft as they took the Prelude half shaft off, and forgot to delivery it?

Thanks. I didn't purchase the trans yet. I told him I would pick it up some time in February. He's holding it for me. Right now, my main concern is freshening up this motor for installation.

I plan on purchasing another H22A at a later date for my full NA build. That's later though.

As for the short term golas of the motor, they are as follows:

Purchase a new OBD-I dizzy. Then I have to track down some OBD-I H22 injectors. I found an ECU for sale, so that's in the works. I'll be picking up the accesory belts, so this means the car will still have AC. Prelude high pressure line, and a stop over at Honda for the TB, WP, balancer shaft belt, and both main seals. Pick up the Kaizenspeed tenioner, and this should be able to get her on the road for now.

I really need a house with a garage.

My engine stand is coming tomorrow, and when I put the engine on it, I'll go picture crazy. I'll try my best to document everything, every step of the way.

use your accord half shaft. the prelude is a different spline configuration.

good comeup. hopefully you got a great price and all is well.
