Interior:
Custom Short Shifter with Civic Si Knob


Exterior:
OEM Factory Crap spot welds....rust galore
G.B.B Bumpers painted black. (Grey Bumper Beauty)
Crap Carbon-FIBurRr wrapped roof (Installed by previous owner to hide roof rust)



Suspension/wheels:
OEM cut springs (done by previous owner) rides ok atm..

Engine/tuning:
4G15 1.5 Liter SOHC

1994 Mitsubishi Mirage S Sedan Auto (Dead 4G15 Motor)
(Will be donor for power doors/locks and misc) Possibly a twin build?

STORY:

With my ongoing CB7 project almost near completion (besides throwing the built motor in with the Supercharger/Turbo) I basically found an excuse to buy another car...err two for a Daily driver.

I didn't really care for Mitsubishi's before.... maybe the FTO if it would've come out here but other than that I didn't really care. Then on my first Visit to the Philippines I got to see what a Mitsubishi Lancer EVO II looked like in person....... I was literally fell in love with the body styling!

I enjoyed watching Initial D with the famous Black EVO 3 from team Emperor and Jackie Chang's movie Thunderbolt with the bright ass Yellow EVO 3....but those particular EVO's looked too funky and aggressive for my liking. It's all about the EVO 2 which makes me want to do a clone of one.


What I like about the EVO 1-2 is the front-end. It is subtle and looks almost like a 92-95 civic compared to the EVO 3 which looks like it's smiling with it's bigger air ducts.


Another thing I enjoy about the EVO 2 is the OEM wing spoiler. It's almost like a 3 in 1 wing! I can run it just as a flushmount spoiler, EVO 1 style without the Lip add-on or combined together as the EVO 2 spoiler.

I think when comparing this car to a CB7, there are lots of similarities as far as "JDM" options and variances between different countries models that attracted me to this car.

So this is the story of my first Mitsubishi project car....which is now a "parts car"

After doing a lot of research, I found out that the 4th generation Mitsubishi Mirage sedan was a slightly rare car to be had. Sales weren't all that for one and there were clones of this car. (Eagle Summit & Plymouth Colt) that saturated the market too. The very few Mitsubishi Mirage Sedans built ended getting shipped to other markets as Lancer's as popular Taxi cars. Finding one was a complete nightmare since I found out this was a very popular car in the DSM scene for a Eclipse 4G63T transplant. Putting one of these engines in this gen mirage will basically give you a race ready lightweight Eclipse with a high 13 to low 13 1/4 mile time. The 2DR coupes can be found for days on end on craigslist as they are "ugly" unless you did a "Coudan" facelift and swapped the rear wtf bumper for overseas counterpart.

I found this (basically POS) on craigslist for $1100.... I offered $700 because of the rust cancer issues and called my boy jdm_inspired to run me down to stockton. On the way there, the girl told me it had a slight knocking noise coming from the motor..... JUST GREAT! but anyways I was desperate because I could never find these cars locally or for a descent price at all! One lady I was going back and fourth with knew what she had and wouldn't budge from her $3850 asking price....though hers was garaged most it's life.







Anyways....long story short, I test drove the car and tried babying the car back to my home and had two rods burst out the block like Alien chestbusters creating a raging inferno under my car. My jdm_inspired a.k.a my HERO told me my car was on fire and I pulled over right on a overpass (no choice car had no go) Well...there went my $700 I guess.




This is what was on fire.... all the motor oil and open combustion igniting it.



Stranded in Stockton.... this *** high China man bum kept trying to sell me his body.


About 2 1/2 hrs later.... packed and ready to go home. Thanks again Ant, Allstate roadside sucks ass!

Clean title but more likely unreported accident. Along with the door being side swiped and ugly bondo job, I noticed the bumper was a little off and the frame pushed in a lil.


In my buddies backyard. He is a DSM/Honda/Nissan genius! He was on here shortly with his CB...but gave it up to buy another 200sx. He will be dropping in whatever motor I choose and I'll do the wiring fun.

It never fails.... About a week later another Mirage (but a hard to find 5-speed) shows up on Craigslist for $1800. Turns out I talked to this guy before a year ago and it appeared that he sold the car to another person because he deleted his ad and stopped communication with me. Turns out he changed his mind and wanted to sell his car again (perfect timing) So I bit the bullet and bought another mirage. This one turned out to be a "very base model" when it came to options. No power anything....which can be a good thing because manual windows seem to never fail....but power door locks are a must. I will be robbing parts from the '94 mirage and hope the existing power locking harness is hidden in the car '93.






Second mod after my sidemarker install were these. Lancer Center tail reflector garnishes. I love how it completes the back and rids the cheap plastic filler panels.



After I paint my car etc. I will be installing the flashier better looking EVO 3 fog garnishes.

Time for a long needed update:

Done lots of major upgrades and haven't been posting.

Finally got rid of the carbon fiber roof wrap to tend to the roof cancer. OMG! the previous owner did a really crappy job patching the roof! There were globs of bondo everywhere and to make matters worse, he seemed to have run out of bondo at one point and straight up used flexible rubber tape to patch the roof holes and then plastered bondo on top of this (bad idea) it was already cracked and coming up when I was pulling the 3M carbon wrap.

Getting rid of the ugly sky blue color in favor of a temporary rat rod flat black look. I figure I could rock this for awhile since i'm scared as hell for my CB getting shopping cart or stupid people opening their car door type dings. With this I can just spray and respray if scratches were to occur. When I move out of my apartment complex, I'll get a real paint job.

Look what finally came in the mail! After numerous of attempts of getting a OEM EVO 1-3 hood, I figured buying a carbon one and respraying it later when it fades will be a more cost effective solution.

They appear from time to time on craigslist. I got lucky on the last mirage though. I actually talked to the guy a long time ago when he first posted it on craigslist but he ended up changing his mind selling it. He was also trying to do an EVO 3 and gave up on it. It was just my luck buying the first mirage but it's not a total loss. That one is newer and had power accessories I want to change over.

It's a very good candidate for a 4G63T swap. Much lighter than a Eclipse GST thats for sure! The sheet metal is so light that shutting the door literally sounds like kicking a folgers coffee can......which is why it's a rust cancer magnet too.
