ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Dynamat Hoodliner

Anyone have this? It reflects radiant heat...would that make my engine compartment like a toaster?

The product description says absorbs up to 87% of my engine noise . Would definitely help me with Polic.

I really want this because my engine is so freaking loud at 2.5krpm and up. Ruins my music and makes me afraid to push the throttle.

I also got a big pack of Dynamat Extreme for decent $$$

It's not going to do a thing for your exhaust noise. If your engine is making so much noise under the hood that you're attracting police attention, it's time for a new engine.

I exaggerated about the police, but the engine sound is definitely unwanted...sounds weak and whiney. I have isolated the noise coming from the belts and the actual engine and not from the exhaust. If anything the stock exhaust on a Accord LX is not bad sounding, just shitty performance-wise.

It only (LOL) has 140k miles on it, plus I don't have the $ to get a new engine or an exhaust.

The hoodliner's temperature threshold is very good. The only thing I am really worried about is that it would heat up my engine.

i did mine with b-quiet. chose it because it actually sticks well and is waaay cheaper. honestly, it makes no difference at all. the only reason why i did it was because i had a bunch of extra lying around. i also live in a climate where it can go to -40 celsius, so it might make a bit of a difference with heat being kept in the engine bay, however nothing that i've noticed.

i also havent had any problems with overheating in the summer time.

performance wise for sound suppression, i noticed no difference at all.

                My suggestions...

                http://www.raamaudio.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi?p=pr

Get a roll of BXT.... If your on a budjet and strip your interior and play it down in your cabin...

If you have some money, get enough bxt to do a layer in your cabin and on your doors, and enough ensolight to lay on your doors....

If you want to go all out, I reccomend 1 layer on the floor and 2 layers on wheel wells and anywhere where the meatle is really thin. At least 1 layer on the doors. And then place a layer of ensolight on the floor and doors and u car will ride so quiet....

Beware excellent sound deadiing your cabin will result in Louder stereo, and it also cause most to driver their car harder bcause it's not as loud as it used to be...

Hadn't thought about the door wells

I read about dynamat alternatives, but I thought might as well go with the name brand. Heard good things about bxt.

You can get the raw materials for like 17 bucks. The only drawbacks are it'll be less sticky, smellier, and not shiny

Well I cleaned up my hood and covered the underside of it with dynamat hoodliner. I ~THINK~ it made a difference in noise reduction..it's not a night and day difference though. I would say 10-15% which I think does justify the price ($45) if outside noise is important to you. What it really did was keep all the heat in the engine bay. You can be driving for hours and the hood will still feel cold.

Notice, this is ONLY the Hoodliner. I didn't want to coat the underside with dynamat extreme first which was suggested. I'll be using the dynamat extreme for the interior aka for myself
