    Leakdown test

I have no compression in cylinder number 2.
    We don't know why.
If I use a leakdown test, is there anyway I can differentiate between a leaking valve and blown rings?

    (Not my engine btw)

Wouldn't air escaping through the oil mean it could be either?

You'd be able to hear where the air would be rushing out from.
Intake manifold, exhaust manifold, or crankcase(see below).

Was the spark plug in good condition? I have heard of the spark plugs ground strap breaking off and the plug just arching to the piston and eating a hole in it.

      That makes sense.
      I haven't looked at it.
My cousin took his civic to a shop and they reported cylinder number 2 as having no compression.
When he gets it back tomorrow, we'll give it a shot.
