    TPS Problems adjusting

whats up peeps been having a problem with cel #7 TPS. maybe someone can tell me what im doing wrong. one day a while back i got a cell and i checked it. turned out to be #7 TPS. as per the haynes manual, i did the voltage check on the connector, two outer terminals i had 5volts. next i took off the throttle body and read ohms on the outer terminal and the middle terminal. all were within specs. put every thing back together and tried to adjust it as per the instructions from Ghost accord here couldnt get a voltage at all on the red black wire. what would be the next step?? im stuck...car drives ok but dont like driving with a CEL might mess something else up. also checked continuity from TPS connector to driverside connector on the shock tower. please help!!!

Sounds like the TPS is bad. You were referencing the Red/Black (sensor signal) wire to the Green/White (sensor ground/reference), correct? It should give a readout of some sort, but if it's sporadic or doesn't behave the way it should, it could be the TPS is broken, or the wire/connector has an open circuit

Yep^, check the voltage and slowly and smoothly open close the throttle, it the voltage jumps around or drops the tps is bad
      wat?

Hmm, silly Q. Did you have the key turned to ACC when measuring the volts with everything connected?

        And to confirm somethings.

        On the TPS sensor
        - You shold get less than 1000ohms on closed throttle
        - You should get 3K to 6K when throttle is open, varying
        - With key to ACC the TPS wires should get 5V and less than 5V when throttle is opening.

It sounds like your key wasn't on, or the TPS sensor is stopping the current dead.

Yeah key on acc whoLe time. All the checks checked out. When I have time ill do everything again From scratch. I tried 3 diff tps sensors, All same result. one was brand new.

Its almost like the power is being shutoff to the wire when everything is connected.

If you couldn't get a voltage on the red/black wire, you may have an open connection.. Did you check all pins of the TPS? A new one shouldn't go bad but things happen. You may have to do some wire tracing.

EDIT: Check your actual harness pins and make sure they are making contact

Ya. If you get a 5V off the wire with it disconnected, and then you connect everything and get 0V .... that's weird.
